kevtim
Hi folksHaving real trouble finding a five arm 22t bash ring small enough to fit onto my phase 1.2. I've exchanged a couple and they just keep catching on the frame when i tighten the cranks to the bottom bracket. I really don't want to get new crank arms as i love my middleburns. I just tried putting on a blackspire granny god with no luck, any one no of a good smaller bash ring that'll fit a phase and five arm cranks? CheersKev
forteh
You have middleburns but not using the pro trials bash? You can pick them up for a few quid on here (once youre validated of course) or perhaps ebay Another alternative if you want to save some weight is the TNN 5 bolt integrated bash spider, available from tartybikes not super cheap but should fit without a problem. Revolver
Perhaps a longer bottom bracket would help? Try buying a 68x128 one, then you should have no issue with the bashring fouling on anything. Unless of course, you've already got one

forteh
The pro trials and that TNN ring will both fit your middleburns, they have a lock ring on the back of them, undo this (using a truative BB tool I think) and the spider will just come off the spline All middleburns use the same spline, youre options are: -Middleburn pro trials - 20t/22t heavy but very dependable.Middleburn super pro trials - 16t integrated ring/bashguard (old ones were titanium and reasonably light, new ones are steel and much heavier; 180g against 100g).Heatsink cloud9 - similar to the pro trials but smaller for an 18t ring, saves a fair bit of weight.TNN 5 bolt - replaces the big heavy pro trials bashguard with a 'uci' style minimal one, still uses a 20t/22t ring on 5 bolt compact drive but saves a load of weight.TNN steel integrated - 18t/16t minimal bashguard in steel, pretty light at about 100g.TNN aluminium integrated - 16t minimal bashguard in aluminium, super light at about 40g. forteh
tnn...lighter, looks better Agreed, dont forget you will need to change your rear sprocket to account for the gearing change
kevtim
Agreed, dont forget you will need to change your rear sprocket to account for the gearing change I run an eight speed cassette i'll so single when i build a new shinny back wheel........ Any advise on a good chain? It'll need it to be long enough to run through my mec and that for now, any suggestions as i've had some pretty bad experiences with chains snapping on me. Over and out
forteh
The 3/32 trialtech lite chain is pretty good, its a kmc Z610HX, single speed use only so you wont be able to shift gears with it, you will be able to lock out the mech and run the chain through if you put space the mech jockey wheels out with a couple of washers to clear the pins. I also had a sram PC1 last me for ages without snapping, again single speed only and pretty light

forteh
I dont see how it can be properly used on an 8 speed setup. You might be able to get it to jump up and down a sprocket but it wont be a smooth shift, might be worth a ring to tarty to clarify
