Joe O'Connor
On my p2 I have DJ 2's and they have gone crap. They have next to no compression, I did a whole day of dirt jumps and down hill and they compressed 4-5cm the whole day!The nitrogen cartritage is the problem. Does any one know how I can fix it? CHEAPLY!!!Or am I going to have to send them away for service under warranty? they are 2008 so they SHOULD be coverd. At the minute I may as well be running echo urbans they are that hard! Revolver
Suspension forks have nitrogen in them?!Open them, buy some new seals and fresh oil, replace seals and the oil, reassemble. Mind you let all the air out of the air side though, otherwise they'll shoot apart when you undo the thing. Forks aren't that hard, I've changed the springs in my rockshox forks - easy. RobinJI
Suspension forks have nitrogen in them?!...I don't think DJ2's should have nitrogen damping AFAIK they should be open bath. It's hard to say exactly what's up with them without seeing them really, could be a few things. I wasnt there at the time but he said it worked like that.

I knew they'd started using them in the base models, but I'm a bit surprised that they've started using them in the higher forks
Revolver
If the nitrogen cartridge is the problem, you can either replace that system with an air one from a different set of marzocchi forks, or you'll need to get a new nitrogen cartridge. Nitrogen isn't really common in gas form, so even if you fix the existing cartridge, you will still have to deal with filling it up.
forteh
Nitrogen isn't really common in gas form.Just makes up almost 80% of the earths atmosphere Cant help with the forks though :$ Edited October 20, 2009 by forteh
Revolver
Just makes up almost 80% of the earths atmosphere Cant help with the forks though :$Hah, well that's true, but I meant, availiable to buy in a container of some form. Getting the nitrogen from the air into the forks without getting any other gases in there too is going to be hard, unless you have a container of it. forteh
Yes, Ill agree with you, compressed nitrogen isnt something you can buy from tescos
Tomm
I doubt it matters that it's nitrogen, but the cartridge will probably be pressurised with very high pressures and not really user-serviceable. They probably need to go back to the importers (Windwave) for fixing. The 2008 models are known to be pretty rubbish for breaking.
RobinJI
The nitrogen cartridge with actually be suntour in those. With regards to servicing nitrogen cartridge dampers, its a very big NO to it being a DIY job, I've know them to fire damping shafts through building's ceilings causing some serious damage, they're silly high pressures and you really don't want one going pop on you.As said, if the problems in the damping cartridge, then just replace it. Joe O'Connor
What do air or nitrogen canisters cost?
Revolver
Each picture is a link also. I don't know if any of them will fit, chances are your forks will fit a cartridge made for a few forks. They're around £80, which is bad news... If I was you, instead of fixing them I'd look at some second hand forks. You might also be able to sell the broken forks on ebay, I've seen it happen with different forks.
