Removing Crank Arms

Recommended Posts

Hey guys and girls, I need to remove my crank arms so I can tighten my bottom bracket. I'm struggling like hell to get them off, any tips? I'm trying to stay away from booting them! :( Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers.

Use a crank extractor.

Make sure it's a good one.

Screw the part that goes into the crank in as tightly as you can.

Use leverage on the other part if necessary.

I've got one that came with my halfords tool kit, but like it's just bending inside the crank arm inwards =/

sorry to hitch on this topic a little, whats the different between a ISIS crank and a normal crank?

A 'normal crank' is called Square Taper.

WEll... I don't know the technical differences however I do know that ISIS are alot better.

Basically,

ISIS are stronger, lighter, they don't flex as much, it is really expensive though.

Square Taper is weaker, heavier, flexier but it's nice and cheap:)

I've been running Square Taper ever since I started trials and it's been fine.

Dont have a clue where you got that from the only point you got right is that square taper are normally more expensive, basically its just a differnt way of mounting the cranks to your BB.
