Maladie
Well, on tuesday evening as I was having a little ride up at my school, my bike practically stopped in place. I could not roll the bike forward without pushing the pedals round at the same time.I took my back wheel off and the sprocket is not budging. I have no idea what to do as I think the whole driver inside the hub is fecked.Do I take it apart, have a look and possibly take the wheel to a shop?Or just buy a whole new driver straight away?Thankyou,James. Maladie
Aha, I'm sorry. I renember you going on about you having a deng hub before. Silly old me, jumping to conclusions.Haha, but anyway Jack, do you have any idea what to do about my little problem? Or do you reckon it's best to buy a whole new driver?Even though they're almost £80 ...
PaRtZ
have you taken the driver out yet? That will really give you your answer. It maybe one pawl has snapped and clogging it all up, in which case its 1 pawl you need. Or it may be a mangled bearing etc etc.Get it out, and if you dont know what to do with it, take some pictures and we'll tell you what to do. MikeCottTrials
yeah, i think your thinking its a much larger problem than it is...One of your pawls/spring will have snapped and be stuck in an engagement and i bet your bearings have crushed as well
Dan6061
I'd say you've demolished the driver bearings. Each time mine have gone, the hub just locks up!
Maladie
Okay thanks guys, I'll take it out as soon as I get my hands on some of those ....chain gripper thingies.Otherwise I got no chance taking the lockring off.
LiamWood!
You dont need your lockring off boss. What i do is on the non driveside thread the bolt in about half way at just hit the bolt head and everything just slides out. PaRtZ
sorry I missed thisIts not a bodge. With the hub out of the frame, and the fun bolts removed, the driver will pull out. Usually a rotation in the freewheel direction helps as well as pulling it out. Yeah you dont need to undo the sprocket, thats attached to the driver
