ashk16
thanks for the replys, the bike seems heavy at the back, would this be because of the profile/wheel build at the back?
J Trials 31
Looks awesome! Not much I would change on that actually. Cranks, forks, bash, maybe. Bars and stem are good.
crispyboy
thanks for the replys, the bike seems heavy at the back, would this be because of the profile/wheel build at the back?Yes it is profiles are very heavy try getting a echo hub or a try-allWhen i had one of these frames i found the bash plate mount was mega long at the front so i cut it down and its alot better Or just get a bashring

ashk16
if i did decide to get rid of the profile (dont think i will because its very nice to ride with) how much would i be looking to get for it and what ffw and rear hub would be good to replace it with?also thinking about echo cnc cranks and trialtech titanium bash ring to replace the tensiles that are shredding my ankles and that nasty bash plate...any good?might change to a echo cnc stem and keep the bars or get vis pro 720's and keep the stem would echo lite forks be lighter than the teams or do i need to be looking at other brands?thanks for the replys so far, some good ideas ash

I'd go for some Trialtech or Monty cranks and I'd just get a new style Echo SL bash to replace that old bash. Don't like the rings on the mods very well. Been riding my Zhi for a few months and it has no bash, it's ok, I just still prefer a regular bash. Keep the bars. Not sure on forks, probably Trialtech or Tryall or V!Z. ashk16
just worked out that the profile and sprocket together come to about 450g by changing to a ffw setup (echo sl ffw and echo tr fixed hub) i would only save 36g so i wont be doing that,i am thinking about changing the forks though, the teams weigh in at over 1015g by getting some tryall forks of echo sl's i would prety much half that weight!i am also going to get rid of the bash plate and replace it with a ring probly a trialtech titanium one...anyone know weather the old tensiles are heavy or should they be ok on there...?thanks for the replys so far and yes it rides nicely, i find it quite low at the front at times though...ash. JT!
That's my old bike pretty much exactly how it was when I sold it.Don't touch it or i'll kill you.But seriously, the only thing you could do that'll really effect the weight is getting rid of the profile, it won't really make much of a difference to the weight its self, but it'll center up the weight and make the bike feel much more balanced.Apart from that it'll come down to just changing the parts, which from my point of view is crazy because when i was building that bike up money was no object and I felt I was buying the best of the best. The frame and forks are pretty heavy, but you know either will never break. The old tensile cranks (one crank is older than the other by the way) are pretty much as light as they come - same with the bars and the stem, and to a point pretty much everything on the bike now that i think about it.The Echo SL forks are prone to snapping, to the point where I've heard of beginners snapping them messing about on the few creates. Stay well away from them.So yeah to sum up, the frame, forks and profile hub are the only 3 things on the bike that are relatively heavy, changing anything else won't make a difference, it is on the heavy side but it's more down to weight balance than it's actual weight. Change to a front freewheel and see how it feels then. Edited October 18, 2009 by JT!
JT!
i am also going to get rid of the bash plate and replace it with a ring probly a trialtech titanium one...I don't think you'll be able to run a bashring with those cranks and that BB combo. I don't think there'll be enough room and the 18T cog will rub against the BB's external bearings.
