CalopS
I have this problem too. Don't understand it. I have a firewall but i checked and its letting msn through so there shouldn't be a problem. Tried reinstalling but same problem.

anzo
First things first...Go to Start > Run and type control timedate.cpl and hit Enter - make sure the time and date settings are correct; this has been a solution for most people on here. MSN cocks up if the year is out - I imagine a problem with version/year synch.Try again, failing that...Go to Start> Run and type Regsvr32 %windir%\system32\msxml3.dll and hit Enter - this will replace the msxml3.dll file within the registery. This file is used for HTTP server authentication, if corrupt it will prevent you from logging into such applications. If neither of them work, post back.Do you have trouble connecting with other applications? I.e iTunes, outlook...?

anzo
Right time and date is all ok and tried the 2nd part, any ideas?READ and DOWNLOAD------------------What version of MSN are you using? Its a little difficult to solve this problem...so many reasons why it couldn't work; so you'll have to be a little patient.1. Are you running Windows XP?2. Do you have any firewall software?3. Assuming you're using a wireless connection, do you use Windows or a 3rd party software (i.e. Belkin, netgear) to configure your connection?4. Have you updated any other software lately?5. Have you ever been able to connect on this system, if yes, what changed?6. Can you connect via Web Messenger (this one or this one?) Do me a favour and download MSN Messenger 7.5 and see if that works. I'd like to eliminate the problem of a network issue or a software issue.Thanks. anzo
What make is your router?Another thing to try...To to Start>Run and type regedit when it comes up, go to File>Export and save the registery somewhere to back it up.When you've done this, go to Start>Run and type the followingregsvr32 Softpub.dll - then press enterregsvr32 Mssip32.dll - then press enterregsvr32 Initpki.dll - then press enter (This one may not work)Then try to log in again. There seems to be a lot of complaints lately regarding WLM and this recent update - I'd expect a bug fix soon enough. However in the past I've also seen problems regarding Netgear routers being a problem...

RobinJI
Mega bump. I'm having issues logging into live messenger, just get the spinning chaps and jack shit else. Won't let me cancel signing in. Works just fine on on-line messengers/on my phone ect.. So it's the laptop not the account. It wouldn't log in earlier on the college wireless either (normally does, there's no blocks on the wireless as far as I've found) I'm trying to reinstall messenger, but it's not appearing in 'programmes and features'. So I can't seem to find how to uninstall it so I can reinstall it. I'm using windows Vista, 32bit I think. I've tried the "Regsvr32 %windir%\system32\msxml3.dll" thing and it just bitch's about some file not existing for it to find Any help would be appreciated. Cheers.
