kingkopity
Are you going straight forward or at a slight angle? I cant gap for shit forward, about 1m40. If i go slightly sideways on i can do double that.

Revolver
Harder gearing isn't it. The trick is learning to use preload to gap instead of pedal kicks.
Unipsycho
Could practise using a heavier bike, or even just wear ankle weights at home so you build up strength. Ankle weights are good as they don't get in the way, or you can even do it whilst sitting down, but they slowly make your legs stronger. Squats would help too
BringThatShtIn
Go up your stairs at home in as few steps as possible =)
Caswell_35
I may be looking to far into this! But I know by being a stronger person you can obviously generate more power, its not all about legs, its about core stability too. Practise something called the plank. Look it up on the internet. Also press ups and sit ups, there is much more you can do but im just saying basics. However as much as it is about power its about technique. Watch some videos of TOP riders who gap miles for fun, I would say TRA is a good example, watch how he pre loads and how he shifts his weight as he takes off, also what he does whilst in the air and landing? After doing all this, hopefully you will be able to gap as far as before using less power meaning you will be able to go further using more power! How old are you??
ogre
pallets (x2), video camera, someone better at gapping that you, tape measure.film your gapping technique, film the person better than you (helps if you both ride the same wheel size bike, the technique for mods and stocks looks different) move the pallets further out each time, set yourself a target, it makes a difference when you see someone doing something you can't do, then you know it's possible get them to watch what your doing, experiment with tyre pressures, and look how some of the big riders do it (damon watson, tra, etc)
Ben John-Hynes
The two things that made a massive to my gapping have already been said; harder gearing and take off at an angle, so you can really get yourbody forward past the handlebars for more "boost" on take off. Do you mean as opposed to just straight ahead, like you were just riding forwards?

Rusevelt
That what trashzen.com is for. TRA is also updating his site (dont know when it will be complete) with a weight training program which helps his explosive riding style. BringThatShtIn
Or read the trials-forum wiki, there's tonnes of stuff about proper gapping technique etc which will really help you squeeze every bit of power out of you and your bike.
