Duncy H
I did my first competition a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it but couldn't help notice that everyone was wearing some riding type shorts and some trials shoes. Now what are you views on these? Do they aid performance etc?Any that you people could reccomend?
snoolax
personally i think shoes are important (as of pedals too) since your shoes (and pedals) are the connection between you and the bike. Loosely worn shoes or a worn out grip pedals will sure affect any moves which involves gripping the rear pedals!
Little Yoshi
I good fitting pair of traners with soft soles will do.I just wear 3/4 lengths when doing alot fo riding. It helps to keep you cool. But shorts would do a better job. Plus for the weight weenies they weigh less.

Dale-Hill
Are they like Hermance Pants? NOOOOOOO....Reason i wear the shoes is mainly for grip on pedals (I feel it offers more)And reason for shorts is there comfortable keep me cool if it hot and light weight. psycholist
If you run V8's go for slightly harder soled shoes (Asics runners work well). If you run cage style pedals skate shoes or trials specific shoes are better.

ogre
specialized xc shorts baggy enough to move around without looking silly, plenty of pockets and they have an inner short which makes them super comfy if your riding all day
benthedog
I wear DC's but as I'm a girl i prefer just to wear jeans rather than shorts. If you wear shorts does it not hurt your shins when the pedals hit off them???

snoolax
know that this sounds a bit crazy but anyone try sandals or slippers? i find that being able to hook my first and second toe around the slipper's stem give me extra grip and strengh when pushing back on my pedals. O_Othey could invent some trial shoe with the slipper stem in it
Ali C
I like to ride in shorts most of the time (even if its cold), the freedom of movement is great!Shoes are really important, I used to swear by ribos, but they have no fallen from favour as I now prefer 5-10s. The grip is amazing, if you havn't used them before they are like nothing else! They also grip rocks and walls really well (so they should being a rock climbing company and all) so if you ever dab or fall off, you have a lot more grip and can get out of tricky situations better. They last a long time too, I have had my pair since Jan and they are still great.
