bikeperson45
i got my Magura HS-33 from Tartybikes today and after fitting it I found that for the wheel to lock i had to pull the lever in contact with the bars. i was wondering if this had ever happened with anyone before, because on their website it says they come fled with Magura Royal Blood so i was expecting them to work well. I didn't want to have to bleed it as soon as i got it, and really thought that i could could just put it on and go.Thanks Edited September 29, 2009 by bikeperson45

bikeperson45
It's 4 finger lever, frame doesn't flex much but has a 2 bolt booster and pistons are as close as I can get them.Guess I'll go experimentThanks

bikeperson45
I've set it up as well as I can, pistons as close as they can go. Would it be best to bleed it with water? My old 2004 maguras were better efore they started leaking. Thanks

JT!
If you bought them new from tartybikes I'd give them a call, they may send you out a replacement.Does the lever keep moving after the pads have hit the rim?If you bought them new from tartybikes I'd give them a call, they may send you out a replacement.Does the lever keep moving after the pads have hit the rim? When you said you set them up as close as you can, do you mean the pads are right up against the rim, or do you mean as close as you can as in the maguras can't go any closer because of something else?Do you have any slack in the leaver, like when you pull the lever the pistons don't move? Alex Dark
When the tpa is backed right off ( pads fully retracted ) when you pull the lever, do the pads move instantly as soon as you touch it?
Greetings
and pistons are as close as I can get them.Hold on. 2 questions:- Define "as close as I can get them" - how close are the pads to the rim?- When you press the brake lever slightly, do the pads move out instantly or is the brake lever slack? Muel
Was the RSQ not enough bitching for you?Whats wrong with phoning Tarty? Instead you've come to discuss it on a forum....Tarty won't have bled it either, it will have been magura bled, so it's not their fault anyway. bikeperson45
Tarty won't have bled it either, it will have been magura bled, so it's not their fault anyway. My mistake, wasn't trying to sound like I was blaming them. When I pull the lever and the pads have hit the rim I can keep pulling the lever. The pads hit the rim with the lever about half way down, but then i can pull it to the handle bars. i can't have the pads completely 2mm away from the rim because it's a bit buckled, I'd say about 3 to 5mm away from the rim. Thanks for all the help
Muel
You need the pads between 1mm and 2mm away from the rim before you can even test it's working properly really.
WIGAN
doesnt sound like it needs a bleed to be fair why would it, just sounds to me as its a bit spongey, what pads are you running im guessing there pretty soft

See if that works. You may find that they're too far away and by time the pads hit the rim your lever is pretty much all the way there.
