Alex Dark
erm front hs33 is fine, just personal oreference really.....as for a disc there are two obvious choices ; Avid BB7 and hope mono trial...depending on your budget. snoolax
i having been using a magura marta and its have been serving me pretty well.. locks up the front well for good trailing =) but seems to squeak when modulating.. i guess there isnt any brakes out out there that can modulate in silent and still lock up tight? Joe O'Connor
I strongly recomend that you stay AWAY from Avid Juicy 3's and Hayes Strocker Rydes. Ive gone through 3 Juicy's and 2 Strocker's.But my Avid BB5's are sweet as.Thay are cheaper than BB7's and the only difference is BB7's have 2 adjusters instead of one. dlysexic
I come from downhill so I'm used to massive disk brakes and I trust in my brakes to stop and lock under any conditions. The only problem I ever have is bent disk rotors, how often do you guys bend rotors? After trying a friends HS33s i cant say i could trust them to lock and hold my weight, I'm sure it's just his set, but is it worth getting disks? Has happened twice so far, both times after getting back on after a full stop using my front brakes so no accidents so far but it has left me a bit cautious when it comes to pulling the front brake to hard. kingkopity
Hi mate. personally. The avid bb7. Im using 185 front rotor with try-all forks. (with the reinforced steerer) not sure how strong the crown will be on your forks so go for the 165. Its an amazing brake, doddle to set up/maintain and as cheap as a wank. Not tried the new Try-all/hope but i didnt get on with old hope mono. And the formula oro that Tarty sold is abit weak.
