Heatsink
Hi All,Mk2 Vee Pads now in stock! The time had come for the innovative and classic HeatsinkBikes design CNC Vee backings to be revamped. Since 2004 these backings have become firm favourites with Trials and BMX riders due to a number of reasons:The first to be designed for Magura sized padsThe first with readily available refillsSlimmer than those before so allowing thicker padsOf course the brake pads are 100% made in England. The backings and bosses are CNCed from billet Alu & steel, whilst the pads are the World Championship winning HeatsinkBikes compound moulded by a English world renowned specialist company in HeatsinkBikes designed tooling. All the above is still true, but now we've sought to liven up the looks a tad by adding some rear cavities inspired by the form of Lamborghini supercars (too much time spent watching Top Gear!). These also decrease the weight without compromising strength. More CNC machining but we're very pleased to say that the price remains the same as before! There is still the option of buying the Backings without pads. The photos:For full details and ordering, check out HeatsinkBikes.comMk2 CNC Magura backings are currently being machined! - Watch this space for newsAll the best with your riding!Steve

cai
Please bring back heatsink reds, they are the shit.I've just fitted a pair of heatsink whites on my rear vee and they are amazing, great bite, and really good hold - but not as much hold as reds gave me. Plus the reds were nice and quite these white pads are deafining..Backings look good

Heatsink
Steve,What sets these Magura backings apart fron the rest? It's a question of attention to detail on multiple things, to create the optimum blend of: PerformanceLooksEase of use during their life (notably the changing of pad refills). This attention to detail is only possible because of the HeatsinkBikes' track record with CNC Magura backings. In 2005 we led the way by releasing our Magura CNC Alu backings which time has shown were the first to get the design right. These backings became firm favourites with riders all over the world combining the rigidity of Alu with a reliable design geometry, pimp looks, and the long term great value of using cheap pad refills. In recent times they have inspired other CNC backings from competitors. For Performance, it's not only about short term improvements that the rigid Alu backings provide each time the brakes are applied. It's also about the long term improvements and here after careful thought over the years, we've taken the original clip design (which now is present in all competitors models) and made an important improvement to minimise damage to Magura slave nipples in the long term. For Looks, our original backings had simple lines and no styling touches to speak of! With the emergence of competitors I set myself the goal of making the new backings at least as attractive as the best looking competitor. Hopefully we've surpassed this goal in the eyes of most riders! For Ease of use during their life, HeatsinkBikes backings have always been designed with refill use in mind. We were the first to make this a feature for riders and to provide our own refills and information on how to fit pads. I notice that competitor backings don't score as highly in this regard. One of these wasn't originally intended to be refilled and later the manufacturer buckled under rider pressure, exposing a backing cavity geometry which requires difficult pad cutting to fit. Another competitor is too slim so the slave nipple pokes in the space where the pad is, so requiring a similar pad modification. The other aspect to ease of refilling is the design to optimise the glueing in of pads. An important thing because glue will be necessary to help with the range of pad sizes from different sources. For ease of pad insertion it's necessary to have air holes so the pad doesn't get stuck halfway down at which point the superglue will go off. These air holes should be positioned right so that glue can sit in the tips of the cavities, and not be too large so that glue bond area is lost and gunk can readily get in. Competitor backings sit at the two extremes, no holes or loads of holes. We've stuck with our lucid air hole thinking from our years of experience, whilst making the holes look a bit sexier if that's possible (triangular!)You've just made my day!I'll keep you posted on progress!bring back veedapters! and a vee boster?I'd love to - maybe in time if the market is right!Looks like you used some of the ideas that I helped with Steve..... They look good.....AdamThanks for all your help tweaking these backings Adam! You're one of the most experienced users of CNC Magura backings so it was really useful to capture your thoughts and suggestions I finally get my hands on the new Magura backings tomorrow. Can't wait Hopefully I'll be able to get photos up the same day if it's sunny!Steve
ogre
I'd love to - maybe in time if the market is right!theres a clear gap for a vee booster, the echo £20 is ok, but it doesn't suite the deng free, vee brake image alot of riders go for, and the 74 kings, is to expensive (£40?) and it looks horrible (in my opinion) theres a gap for a booster
