bikeperson45
I've had this problem for the last few weeks now, after I bleed it and go out for a ride after a few hours it can't lock the wheel. I wondered if there was a leak because I've noticed some water around the cylinders, but I found there was still quite a lot of water in when I undid the bleed bolts and pulled the lever. Has anyone had problems like this before? It's a 2004 model so could it be because it's just woren away? Thanks

MiuSliS
Remove your pads and see if you pistons are not leaking. I think that might be the case. Experienced it myself. Brakes started betting spungy and not hold, so i removed the pads and saw that they were covered with oil. Good luck.

trialsmax04
another thing to check is the master cylender. The piston in the core is only a rubber o ring and perish easily. Mine did and it was showing the same symptoms.
Caswell_35
Thanks for speedy reply.Okay, so how do i found the leak and is there a way i can stop it?Or get a new brake...Pain in the ass, but take the brake off submerge it ALL in water and pull the break and you should see some signs, air bubbles, as if there is a split the there should bring air into the hose.Think that should work?? to find the hole

BigAl
As its an 04, check around the bleed bolt on the lever. I've cracked a few around there and they have leaked slowly causing a lack of pressure and no hold.
Rob Brodie
everyone is going to say no dont do this but trust me it works...mix some bright food colouring with water and then bleed the brake with it.the colouring will come out and will will be able to see the leak.MAKE SURE YOU GIVE IT ALOT OF FLUSHES THROUGH BEFORE THE FINAL BLEED!!!or buy some hydraulic acid? see if you still get the problem then Edited September 25, 2009 by Rob Brodie
