danchaz29 Posted September 22, 2009 Report Share Posted September 22, 2009 hi guys. i am returning to trials after 3 years off mountainbiking only. my onza t-pro 2004 needs a new free wheel. i have ordered a tensile one from tarty and it is on the way. i am struggling to get my old one off however. i am trying to remove the driveside crankl to get to the frewheel,but i cant get it off the square taper. the mechanics at my work are all mtb or roadies so i was hoping someone could help me step by step on how to swap the freewheel. thanks ! The old freewheel then needs to be removed from the crank arm, shopuld just be a basic 4-prong acs tool. Clamp the tool into a vice, bolt the crankarm reasonably tightly to the tool. Remove pedal and slide a scaffold bar or similar over the crank arm, turn anti-clockwise to remove from FFW. Once it's shifted a bit, remove bolt and proceed with care. Posted September 28, 2009 Report Share Posted September 28, 2009 ohh sometimes have to use a bb remover for the freewheel they use it to try and save space on the crank arm but i'm have problems just getting thing off its on soo tight any tips? Once it's shifted a bit, remove bolt and proceed with care.if that dont work then your only other option will be to uncrew the lock ring then remove the other teeth, all the innards like bearings and pawls and things of the like then clamp the freewheel body directly into the vice and take a scaff tube to it.
