psycholist
Looks fine to me...Is it light?Looks very weak to me, especially with the spoke holes offset that far - it had better be light ...
trialsmax04
Looks very weak to me, especially with the spoke holes offset that far - it had better be light ...Wouldnt it be stronger with offset spoke holes?

PaRtZ
Wouldnt it be stronger with offset spoke holes?I 'think' it only depends on how you ride. If you land at a point in the rim where the spoke is on the far left, and you land on the far right, the distance between spoke to opposing rim edge (and thus, lever) is far greater and so less effort is required to flatspot it on one side. Whereas a 'normal' spoke drilling, the distance is only ever just over half rim width, so the leverage is less and its harder to bend.Thats a bit difficult to follow so sorry about that. Thats what I can picture in my mind, but whether the two holes either side are enough to keep it in placei dont know. Anyway that rim looks ace! must be light! single walled though? psycholist
Wouldnt it be stronger with offset spoke holes? If the spoke holes were set so that spokes could be laced from the left hub flange to the holes offset to the right of the rim this would be the case (For lateral loading). The shape of that rim means that you must lace from the left flange to the left offset holes, so the lateral stability of the wheel will be very very poor compared to a rim with no offset. I can also see the spoke tension bending the rim walls into a polygon if the wheel is built half tightly...
