David
Some of the ideas popping up on facebook are hilarious. I've heard everything from radio controlled balls to 'special magnetic ink'
Fish-Finger-er
likewise the women on the radio today who said it was quite simple, he just recorded all the outcomes over the last year or so, then cut to the desired outcome after the draw(because 14 million outcomes would of been filmed, for a 10 minute publicity stunt, and be regarded as simple).more plausible ideas include a projector, split camera image, and the more james bond way of the balls basically containing a battery, reciever and a small spherical screen. PaRtZ
The numbers are carfeully arranged gnats, sitting very still in the correct shape to form the right numbers....
Rich J
Best reply on youtube goes to, theres a laser cutter putting the numbers on each ball. This knocked the far left ball up a bit. Which incidentally happens but still.

anzo
Editing films isn't the part of an illusionist. That would be the editor doing the tricks, meaning Derren Brown becomes useless. He is going to 'explain how' to do this...meaning no camera tricky is involved.Formula? You're kidding?LCD balls? They're clearly printed?Thumb appearing on the card, sure, looks a little sketchy, perhaps he has a big hand...but how does a thumb appearing at the top of a card explain how the balls have the correct numbers on them?Projector? Sure it would work if they balls were still, however he moves the balls slightly as he checks each one off...so you would need the projector to be able to move with the movement...a lot of effort and it'd be amazingly obvious. This isn't a prediction. It'd be a prediction if he listed the numbers BEFORE the draw. Edited September 10, 2009 by anzo

arw_86
We have seen Derren manipulate via suggestion to other people. Well, I am sure it is possible for him to make suggestions to a machine = the lottery machine. Afterall, it is man made and therefore has lingering human energy which Derren can tap into and tell it which balls to spit out. what do you guys think?CornbreadDupree (8 minutes ago) +1 ReplyHere are a few more theories:Derren has already proven that he has a PHOTOGRAPHIC MEMORY. So it is possible that he could have studied all the lotteries and made mental images, memorizing where the balls fall in the globe. Then he can calcualate angles, velocity, gravity to accurately predict which balls will actually fall out.. THe reason it had to happen on 9/9/09 is because the earths axis/rotation are probably perfectly aligned to make his prediction most accurate.both theories from the same person.......im a guessing an american woman?! lol......ooooooh nooo the stereotyping!!! its disgusting!whoever the person is, they got some funny thinking going on
anzo
Haha, I thought you had some sort of mental disability until I read the last bit of your post
charliemod
Maybe the balls he used were electronic and were changed when they did the draw

PaRtZ
the sun were strongly adamant, using an 'expert' it was the split screen trickMaybe the numbers arent on the balls, they're just illegible smears and we all wanted him to get it right so much, when he turned the balls around we believed that he was right? monkeyseemonkeydo
Aliens.Your explanation for anything slightly peculiar is aliens, isn't it? You lose your keys, it's aliens. A picture falls off the wall, it's aliens. That time we used up a whole bog roll in a day, you thought that was aliens as well.
