BB is too low, those 90mm fox forks are a little too short for the bike :( but they're so damn good!

and the frame's too low for proper xc but minor issues to be fixed when i get money!

Thinking of sticking with a spesh frame, or maybe a dmr trailster2 anyone have any experience with one? would they work with 90mm forks?

Any suggestions for (low budget) frames please guys?

I've got a Trailstar. It's currently got 100mm DJ3s on it but for a while I had my Pikes which are adjustable from 100 - 140 mm. 100 feels nice, quite snappy handling and great fun through twisty stuff, but it gets overwhelmed by steep stuff and big rocks. With the forks wound out to 140mm it's a completely different beast though, it feels like it'll take anything. Of course it probably won't, it'll just snap at the headtube if I use it like that for any length of time :P They're nice frames, feel spingy like all steel hardtails should.

So I imagine with 90mm it would be on the low end of what you'd want. Somewhere around 120 would probably be nice medium. They're quite small though - Even with the seat fully up (420 mm post) it's not big enough for me really. Also mine's got really small chainstays, max tyre is like 1.9". That's a fairly big annoyance if you're planning on using it as a serious XC bike really!

Yeah they has a Grimeca-esque lever back in the day. Also seem to remember the caliper being a dark grey colour.

EDIT: there she is

I was in a local bike shop the other day and they had a brand new set of these still in the boxes at £140 each along with a matching front and rear mech to the brakes. The brakes look amazing in the flesh.

Tomm are you sure you can only get a 1.9 in there?

I had Moto's on when I had it and they're what 2.3, 2.2?

Yeah that's all I was able to fit in, although it's a bit weird and some tyres will fit better because of shape rather than actual volume.

This is for 26" wheels, right? For 24 there's loads of room.

Ah my bad, I was running 24" Combats...

That explains it then :P

Bucky - You can use any size disc (it doesn't matter), although 160mm is likely to be more than enough. Those forks have ISCG mounts and whatever brake you buy should come with the mounts. Otherwise you would need to buy an appropriate adaptor.
