Simpson
Basically I need a new phone and am going off to uni so looking at getting something which will give me texts some calls and a new phone for about £10-£15 a month, I also know nothing about phones so im a bit stuck!Found a Sony Erricson C510 for £15 with 300mins and unlimited texts, only downside is that it has a 24 month contract, but if its a good deal I don't care about being stuck with it for a while. So help and advise? LukasMcNeal
If you buy a payayg phone you can buy a contract where you just buy the sim you get more for your money as your not paying for the phone.also what network? Captain Scarlet
What phone have you got at the moment?I'm not a massive phone geek, phones generally bore me, if I want a photo I'll use a camera not a phone with one, and if I want to listen to music I have my iPod, I was also worried about having a fragile phone which I wouldn't be able to cruise through the menus as easily as I can on my K750i.So I went for a sim only contract, keep my shitter of a phone, pay £20 a month, get 600 minutes, 600 texts and a free bolt on (you could choose something like free internet, free 02-02 calls, but I went for unlimited texts). And the type of sim I went for I can cancel at any time, you can get some cheaper options but they are minimum contract of a year.Oh and I also got to keep my same number. ~Samsam~
Yea, that contract you put there is one of the best, especially if you text a lot like meI'm on the same contract from Orange, except I only get 100 minutes ;(
Ash-Kennard
my boss managed to convince orange to give him 400 minutes, unlmited texts and a nice new lg phone for 15 quid a month. he asked to use a free gift or something. not 100% if it was a new contract or an upgrade. but its worth checking out. i will be when mine runs out

The minimum term for contracts nowadays for some reason is only 18? So 24 is only another 6 months. Seemed like a good deal for me.

Pashley26
Indeed, my phone is in like 3 bits.Do you want a flashy new phone ? Because you could save yourself a fair bit of money by going for the sim only option then just buying the phone from ebay etc etc.... Max Quinn
Mines never gonna last 18 months Its pretty battered after 5.Can't you just start insurance on it now then? I pay £5 a month with orange to full insure my phone, pretty sure it's similair with o2.Sounds a fair bit but I go through 4 or 5 phones a year easy so it's well worth it. Tomm
I seem to live off Apple's warranty which is freaking awesome. I've had 4 iPhones now - Not the best advert for their quality but each time there's been a problem I've just taken it to the shop and they hand over a new one brand spankers. The last one I had for around 5 months, and it was looking fairly dull and scratched, the new one is all shiny again! On this new one, the volume key is a bit sticky so I might try and get a 5th one. Just to see if they'll do it EDIT: These problems weren't (I think) caused by dropping it though. Just hardware faults.
