Mark W
Don't f**k with steerer tubes! Every set of forks I broke snapped on the steerer, and all those MontySSS ones did too. It's fully not worth it.

It's fully not worth it.not much force if you do it inbetween the headset cups...the main stress risers are on the legs, magura mounts, disc mounts, in line with the lower headset, in line with top headset cup.Id say thats the safest place to remove some material, apart from the dropouts. Alex Dark
Bingo.what has the fact that they're urbans got anything to do with it? theyre hardly weak Every set I snapped went level with the top of the headset cup/bottom of the stem.exactly.... the stress risers are where they meet the headset, where the fork is inside the frame, theres not a huge amount of stress present .eg.... headset cup- ]| frame |[headset cup
Tom Booth
Have you ever seen any 2004 Monty SS fork's, Alex?
Alex Dark
Have you ever seen any 2004 Monty SS fork's, Alex?nooope, why?I'm just thinking of the try-all forks. I'm not suggesting its the greatsest idea to do this, but certainly safer than removing material level with the headset cupsor fork legs
Daniel Gray
Going to speak my mind here, think that looks stupid to be honest, if u were actually going to do that why not on the inside? and well just not my cup of tea. Julius Czar
Echo SL's?Yeah, but look at the difference, zoo forks are tanks, and the SL's, well look at them they look like they're made out of tin, judging by the thickness of the metal
