Guest
hello, i just had a small ride on my bike then sprayed some WD40 onto the chain, then when i went to go on it again the brake started slipping. What should I do? was it to do with the WD40 somehow getting onto the brake pad, that made it do it?
Dale-Hill
You got some on your rim by sounds of it.Just give the rim a good clean (without soapy water)And sand the top layer of shite of the pads Should be fine then.

Jitters
+1 to what DH said. And avoid WD-40. It's not really a lubricant, contrary to popular belief.Get you a cheap bottle of chain lube when you can.

Muel
Don't use petrol, it's oil based so it will leave a thin film on your rim, same with white spirits.I'd say washing up liquid and water, or apparantly you can mix white vinegar with water and that brakes down the oil and the water washes it away.As for the pads, you can sand them slightly but the grind will do most of the work. Mat Smith!!
Either re grind and just drag it lightley to wear all the shit off, then pour warm water over and just re-bed in, or wash your rim and pads with warm soapy water and re-bed in. Jimmy_k
Brake cleaner from any motor factors is the best bar none, only costs a couple of quid and comes in an aerosol can.

Sam Ward
But petrol is oil based and - Oil = slip?so is tar but it doesnt stop you from caking your rims in itin other news, either regrind your rim and sand your pads a tad, or clean your rim with some kitchen cleaner and sand your pads
