nasheenofteeth
Hello just been reading some forums from the states and man do a lot of guys hate the 24" bike, echo is now making a 24" bike and some people really hate the fact that a 24" is even considered a trials bike? Just was wondering what other people thought? I think the popularity of the 24" is because of the danny video to be honest, that's just what I see, so let me know what you think about the 24" vibe??Thanks guys!!!!!!!!!! JT!
I don't think anyone hates 24" bikes. The DannyMc vid has made 24" bikes, and general street riding a little more popular, but really 24" bikes were really picking up pace long before his vid. I'm still waiting for 24" comp / tgs frame personally.I think some people refer to 24" street riders as more towards bmxers i guess, but at the end of the day if you have a small sprocket and a good rear brake, you're riding trials. The lines always get blurred in any sport, to consider them not trials bikes / trials riders is just idiocy. Edited August 25, 2009 by JT! Little Yoshi
Had a look at the OBT. That guy has MAJOR issues with 24".
JT!
24" street bikes aren't nice to ride IMO, but then again I ride natural, no my opinion is worthless, just like that guy on OTN.I had a quick go on a 24" bike, it kind of felt like trying to ride trials on a MTB. Then i nearly launched myself over the bars because i forgot that the brakes were on the other way round.
Matthew62
I love my 24''. So much fun, it is exactly what i want from a bike....to be able to pull up and do some straight forward trials, then burn along and ride street, rolling everything doing stuff with momentum. I love being able to bunnyhop properly, do some jumps and still hop around all on one bike that stiff doesnt feel a 'jack of all trades'.To be perfectly honest though, i don't get all the fuss with boundaries/genres/styles etc. When i used to ride in the early 2000's everyone just rode the way street 24'' (or whatever you want to call it) trials is being ridden now - just no one back then gave a f**k about giving every single thing a title. I owned a 24" bike and I didn't like it. They arn't really good for anything in perticular, so they don't make a good bike to learn on IMO. It seems like the only riders that can ride them well are those with a lot of trials and bmx background like danny mac and phil feeney. I might have gone a bit overboard on otn, but I honestly didn't like that bike. I think that current 24" bike geos need to see an evolution like 26" trials bikes have seen in the last several years. If I were to build another one up, it would have much lower bb height, shorter cs, and 1050 ish wb. I didn't like how high the bb height on mine was because it requires a really high handlebar height so that you're not riding in a stretched out stance. But when you do that I find that the bike starts to feel off balance and too flicky.
Spektrum
Pimp, you have a seat, need i say more? Call it personal preference but there are very few bikes (stocks only) that I would trade for.

They sit too low, and the bars are too far forward, so the seat is very uncomfortable to use, even if its put up. Its more there for looks than function imo. Luke Rainbird
I'm pretty sure the group of 20 or so riders I'm currently working my way round the country with would argue that 24" bikes are the way forward, backward and round in circles...
