rowleypoo57
Hi, ive been out of the trials world for a few years now and im now looking into building a 24" trials bike. I have noticed that alot of trials specific shops seem to have 18T bashrings. I used to run 18/19 cassette ring with 22T chainwheel which I thought was spot on. My question is, do you have to go down a few teeth on a 24"? Thanks for your time.
djb
I think most people run something a little stiffer, more like 22-16. I run 20-14 on my Leeson which is fractionally tighter again.
Revolver
Fo' trials, you use 22-18, or 18-14.Fo' your average street stuff, or for a more MMMMANLY riding experience, you use 22-17, or 18-13.I'm on 18-13, and I'm as macho as they come. Trials Punk
I'm just sorting out my gear ratio now. Have been running 20-16 for a while but want something a bit harder so I'm going to 18-1418-16 Spektrum? Your nutsssssss
monkeyseemonkeydo
18-16, for meAmericans... Seriously, that'd feel a tad low on a 26" bike. On 24" you must have zero power...
Spektrum
Yeah I end up having to pull a tad harder on the handlebars, but I really want to switch to 22-16 or something a little higher.edit: I'll be looking for a new chainring soon so if anyone has any advice for a 22t ring or such that would be great Edited August 25, 2009 by Spektrum

cai
22 - 14 Rides amazingly for street on my 24UK, and I can't say it holds me back at all for trials moves.
duncan_echo26
Danny MacAskill rides 22 - 16 which would be best for street but you might want something lighter depending on what kind of riding you do.The new Echo 24" has 18 - 14 which is a bit lighter and is probably better for trials. sharn
Im planning on building up a streety 24, coming back at it from bmxing im looking for something inbetween. Thinking of runnin an odyssey million dollar sprocket on a 3pc. Its 25t so what would i need on the rear for somehting a little stiffer than usual? Maybe the equivelant to 22-16 or something?Cheers Edited October 21, 2009 by sharn
Luke Rainbird
25:18 = 22:16 = 18:
Skoze
MMMMANLY riding experience, you use 22-17, or 18-13.22:17, RPRZNT.I <3 that ratio.
Scott Gibbs
I would suggest 22-16 mate that works great for me on a street 26" and thats what i will use on my 24" and also its a better size to land on when doing sprocket stalls! And also you dont spin your legs off riding anywhere further than 200 yards!
sharn
Cheers for that chaps! Yeah i would go smaller but its hard to find something good for a 3pc. And also i like the look of a bigger cog, little ones look weird to me!Should still be small enough to land on okay i rekon? Cant wait!
