Kieran
Alright,I have Echo Lite forks from '07 and im running a front mag with heatsink whites. My brake is amazing and also really loud although my forks make an annoying ringing sound when i use my front brake. Any suggestions on how to stop it or are echo forks just like that?Cheers,Kieran
bikeperson45
Tighten headset, check brake is bolted on wellHold the front brake and push bike forward and see if there's any play in the headset
liam-pantera
i dont think there is anything you can do about it as its just the forks natural resonating , the only thing you could try is using a booster but it could effect your braking . hdmackay
Kieran, I don't think it's that big a deal but I suppose it's wierd how it happens to yours but no-one elses.Tighten headsetThat could be your problem right there. His headset is super loose. And always will be until he gets another stacker/ cuts down his steerer tube. i dont think there is anything you can do about it as its just the forks natural resonatingDoesn't happen to anyone elses though and most of the people we ride with have those forks.EDIT: Mat Smith's point could be quite valid. Just hope they aren't cracked. Edited August 23, 2009 by hdmackay
Matt Vandart
Check for cracks. If they are ringing I would say there are no cracks, however if they are making a sort of buzzing sound then I would suspect a crack.Matt
Kieran
Check for cracks.Checked them for cracks today with Hunter, also tightened my headset. Didnt find any at all and the forks are only like 3 months old, maybe not even that. The ringing is probably because of the bolts i have, still got the total short Magura bolts and there so close to rounding that i'm scared to tighten them. I'll get new bolts and see if the ringing stops.

Trials Punk
Could always try re-facing the headtube and making sure the headset is pressed in proper. Could be that.

falmouth_trials
Have you got a grind on your rim? If so it could be pads resonating through the slave cylinders and passing through to the forks the vibrations causing sound. It happens with v brakes and discs too. Nothing to worry about!
