subtlecontrast
Long shot... Does anyone know if pedal back hubs are still about? Think they were called coaster hubs or something like that, I fancy building up a run around with one.Cheers, Tom
Jack Morton
Is this for a trials bike or a bmx ?
subtlecontrast
Is this for a trials bike or a bmx ?Neither, just for getting from a to b really. It wouldn't have to put up with much abuse, the occasional skid maybe..

Jamie East
Neither, just for getting from a to b really. It wouldn't have to put up with much abuse, the occasional skid maybe..Why do you need a coaster hub then, just for commuting?Atleast you could fakie to work! Mark W
It's not a coaster - that's something else. It's just a back-pedal brake hub.
Pashley26
The Shimano range still have them, Nexus internal 3 speed is the cheapest in the range with standard axle spacing. This is a roller brake - This is an internal geared hub with a coaster (back pedal) type brake and 3 internal gears - You can spot a back pedal hub by the stay on the non-drive side which mounts on the chainstay. ashleysmith
yea the gears are operated on the other side... by a push rod i believe
sstein
yea the gears are operated on the other side... by a push rod i believeno the gears are still cable operated but instead of moving a derailer it spins part of the hub which changes the internal driving cog.
