Unipsycho
I'm wanting to buy a bike to begin with, and from looking round here, it seems a T-pro or Bird is best to begin with, but they're a bit out of my price range. I've messed around on a basic halfords mountain bike but we all know halfords bikes are rubbish bikes I'm looking for a bike up to about £250, £300 at a push, with a seat and preferably gears. I'm not too comfortable buying second hand either, 'cause I'd like to be able to complain if it's faulty. The best I've found is the following, but I'm sure it's not gonna be the best, or there's something wrong with it.http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?pr...;category_id=47I don't really have a tremendous amount of knowledge about the little things on bikes, so any help is appreciated. Thanks
BTR_Vince
Are you looking for a Mod or Stock bike? Because the Bird and T-pro are Mod and the Spyrogyra is Stock... As far as I know you don't get Mod's with gears, and only a few have seats.
Unipsycho
A stock, 'cause they're cheaper and have seats I'd guess. I'd want something that's bearable to ride around as well as do trials on, rather than something that is thoroughly uncomfortable to ride leisurely. lpbluke
that bike is heavy just to let you know. but i would go for a t-pro

Unipsycho
Haha, ok I get the picture I guess I've designed a bike which isn't realy, I'll just have to push the boat out and get a t-pro or bird. Now's a fun bit t-pro or bird to get first? Also, Josh, can you explain what you mean when you said "the gearing is too easy" for riding around? Do many 20" have seats? gibbo8888
most of the older mods have a seat but i aint seen a new one with a seat! But get a t-pro honestly you will not be dissapointed take my word for it!
Unipsycho
I suppose with a recommendation that strong from everyone, it'll have to be a t-pro is there a website with a particularly good price for t-pros?And is there any, uhm, parts on the standard t-pro which should be modified? Such as unreliable brakes, etc.
Dale-Hill
Do many 20" have seats?Only the crap ones.Look on tarty for the pros.
gibbo8888
Look on ebay you will be amazed at what you can get for your money!
Unipsycho
Is this the bike? http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?pr...;category_id=10It doesn't have the "T-" part of "T-Pro" so I'm not sure I got it right...And are there many cases of problems when buying second hand? That's basically my biggest worry, spending too much on something that's faulty...
Revolver
That's the one. They dropped the T because they no longer felt the need to reinforce the fact Onza is a trials brand.
Unipsycho
Yeah that's a bit out my price range...was thinking 300 at a push, so do I get a Rip or a Bird?Edit: A Rip seems the way to go for me, but is there any reason not to get one which you guys know of? Other than quality comes with a price tag so there's gonna be better bikes, but is a Rip decent enough to learn on? Unipsycho
Wanted to edit the above post, but is too late now.Is this bike ok for a first one? Unipsycho
I did, but after looking around, it seems a brand new one is gonna be too expensive...the rip and bird are both very expensive, that bike is only £200 unlike the £330 or £420 Rips and Birds...I just need some people more knowledgeable than me to check over that bike and see if it's as good as a Rip... Revolver
It's a fair bit better than a rip or blade.
Unipsycho
So with the little amount of damage it comes with, would it be worth getting instead of a Rip or something?
Revolver
Sure, at £200. Maybe more.

Matt Vandart
I'm gonna get slated but don't write off your first choice.Going on your description of what you want out of a bike the spyrogyra is good value for money (for a new bike)I had one and it is good for upgrading and it is bearable for riding around on.Minimum upgrade is ditch the bars they are shit with a capital sh, upgrade the brakes to avids or Lx, levers too and you ahve a bike that is good to learn on.After a while upgrade to a tensile freewheel, cranks, rims, forks, hubs, etc.I know this sounds insane and that is because it is, but that way you can be riding all the time and spreading the cost.Alternatively buy a second hand bike as the others are saying, it's not often you get ripped off, and you get miles more for your money.Ebay bike looks good.Matt
