Your front wheel makes contact, but you don't get the proper motoring up feeling you get when you plant a proper tap up a higher wall. It's an awesome feeling. I do a lot of bump stuff on my BMX up stairs and stuff and it feels the same - seriously, doing bump-jump 360's up stair sets is the best feeling thing you can do on a bike. Just ride towards a set of stairs, bump the bottom step and carve into it, world spins round and you fly up, then you land at the top going forwards. Too good!
