TrialZonn
Hello.I'm going to buy an Avid BB7 09' brake and I was interested in the 203mm rotor version. Can anyone tell me if I'll need an adaptor to fit them on my forks?Until now I was using a Onza Dual-Pull mechanical disk brake with a 180 rotor...What about the 185mm version of the brake? Also what's the best rotor and lever to use it with?I'm searching for raw on/off trials braking power Many thanks. psycholist
You'll need the right adaptor for the 203mm rotor. If you fit the avid caliper instead of your existing one it should run on the 180mm rotor you have. A well set up 203mm rotor Avid SD7 is viciously powerful - certainly loads more bite and hold on the bike I tried than the 185mm rotor and Magura Louise I'm running at the moment. TrialZonn
Ok thanks then I think I'll go with the 203mm (with Avid SD7 Lever) as power is what I'm in search for.Could you please give me a link of the right adaptor (from tartybikes or chainreactioncycles), because this is the first time I am changing disk.Oh I forgot to tell that my forks are the the Onza Tuf Guy.Thanks Edited August 12, 2009 by TrialZonn
psycholist
This should do the job - as far as I know the Onza forks are all IS mount (Bolts that mount the disk to the fork are parallel with the front axle) and spaced for 160mm calipers and Avid brakes are post mount (Bolts to hold the caliper point towards the fork leg), so a 203mm IS to post mount adaptor is needed: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=13720Can't find disk adaptors on Tartybikes at all for some reason... David
Out of interest, what are peoples opinions of the 09 BB7 compared to previous years?
ogre
Out of interest, what are peoples opinions of the 09 BB7 compared to previous years?09 is the same as the 08 right? cause mine are awesome, some people are saying they arent as stiff as the older model (which is light grey as opposed to the darer grey they are now?) i havent noticed any flex? good cable is important for good brake performance...
