LiamWood!
Right i intended to clean my cylinders inside my caliper so i pumped my lever so they came out but one popped out so i popped it back in by pushing it in with a screwdriver but when i take the screw driver out it just slides back out but not all the way. Ive tryed undoing the adjuster on the lever but nothing works the cylinder just says out.Anybody had this before? or know what to do?Thanks. Edited August 12, 2009 by LiamWood! onzatrip
sorry liam you cant you have to drill to 5.2 to fit the insert!
Muel
You're wrong I'm afraid Ben. M6 threads use a 1mm pitch normally, whereas an M5 uses a 0.8mm pitch. Also a helicoil tap isn't 6mm wide anyway, think mines about 5.7mm.

Muel
It's already tapped out to M6 though, what he's asking is if he can fit a helicoil to make it M5.You might be able to get a different kind of insert, I've never looked into it. weirdoku
I've actaully did this to a mates frame. It was already tapped to M6 but I still put a helicoil in and to this day it still works.
Muel
How did you sort the pitch out? Get an M5x1.0mm bolt?Sounds like it's worth a try, if it doesn't work you'll just have to put up with using M6.

Mat Smith!!
You normally have to use a fancy tap, but it might work without.

Muel
You have to push it really hard, and also you might have to disconnect the hose so the air inside has somewhere to go, then re-bleed it.
LiamWood!
Ok Muel, could i open the top cap to let the air bubble out? Would it have the same affect becuase the bubbles have further to travel?
Muel
Yeh I think that should work, just watch out for oil spurting out of the resevoir. Also when you've pushed it in, it will compress the air, so you need to hold it in in order to wait for the pressure to drop as it pushes the oil up the hose.
