Trialtech Bars - How Long Do They Last

Hello!

I´m always scared of braking parts especially chains and bars, so i replace them often - chains every two months (when i was younger and a bit more chuck norris i ran them until they broke which was never longer than three or four months), bars every year.

So, I have ridden my TrialTech bars for a year now. Usually it would be time for me to replace it with a new one - did it with all deng bars, TryAlls etc (never broke one of those, but i broke 25,4 mm ones quite a few years ago), but the TTs are very well trusted by the community (and me) - so is only the marketing machine running well or are they really of a higher quality than others? My weight is 90 kg, bars are cut to 72 cm, i ride about 4 times a week (nothing too hardcore, but on a high level)...

So i would like to know who has already broken a TrialTech bar, how long did it last, what riding was done with it, how often a week and the weight of the rider...

And how long are you guys already running yours, als including riding style, weight...

Cheers from Austria

w.

I know slinger snapped a pair, but he has a habbit of snapping everything lately :S Mine are about a year old now and I am still confident in them. Both myself and Stan had a prototype each which were lighter than the current bars. I went out of my way to do big drops and stressful moves but they both survived really well. The added meat to the production ones was just to make sure they were as strong as poss.

If your in the habit of replacing bars every year. Then i think you should replace them. Just to be safe.

Im not saying that they are going to snap. But if you were worried about other bars snapping. Then theres no reason as to not worry why these wouldn't either.

Certain moves put more stress on bars than others. I rode trialtechs for about 5 months with no problem at all I always land 2 wheels at the same time which doubles the stress of the bars but I only weigh 150lbs (70kgish) . If you look at the weight of the bars they are heavy for their size so I would guess they are stronger than most bars. Your a smart man though, most parts can snap while your riding and you will be safe, but if your bars snap you will pound your chest into your stem and get serious injuries. I think steel might be a better material for bars, cause then you get warning signs before they snap but at the same time I haven't broken a bar set in 5 years and I was running montys so I think bars are strong enough as is that I am happy with aluminum.
