sayshell
The situation...I got my new frame and the gear ratio is perfect and chain tension is utterly perfect but the wheel is slammed as far in on the dropouts as possible and the brakes are tilted up a lot to compensate for this reducing power a fair bit.Solutions??I was wondering is their a magura mount like the tensile ones that offset up and down instead of left and right? I am already running the mounts as far up as they go and its not enough. I only need to get them about 3mm higher. Any ideas? (aside from adding slack to my chain) Edited August 2, 2009 by sayshell
JT!
Don't have your wheel slammed into the dropouts?
tmks88
or you can use longer bolts and put a 3mm washer under your mounts
Revolver
Try filing them a bit?
liam-pantera
just machine or file out the mounts so there abit deeper apart from that just change your chain and tensioner instead of having it slammed
RossMcd
Try-all clamps have more adjustment than the magura clamps. and so do the Neon clamps by the looks of it
Luke Rainbird
Assuming you're running normal M5 bolts on the Magura mount, throw a chain spacer under each mount (the ones from between the plates). Should give you about the height you need, though wider washers would be a little more ideal to avoid them digging in - maybe throw a washer below/on top of each too
George.E
If your looking to buy mounts like the tensile ones, why no just buy the tensile ones then ?

PaRtZ
The washer answer is your best one, or the chain spacer one. To answer your question, no, therer aren't any magura mounts that are 'thicker' to space the cylinder upwards...It seems odd that the mounts arent in the right place on your frame, but I gues every frame has its errors. Also another idea, but not a good one is you could add/glue half a plastic washer to a full plastic washer, and then have the thicker bit at the bottom as this would raise the height of the cylinder. Could be a bit sketchy though

I think this is the answer I am looking for, they do look more adjustable thanks! My chain tension is so perfect now I am not running a chain tensioner either, so I really don't want to change anything.
Luke Rainbird
By moving the mount further off the frame, you will get a similar result to moving the mount up the stay. May not be so pronounced but should help at least a little. Otherwise you're into filing mounts or custom fabrication

My informant was correct, I contacted tarty and the neons and tryall have more adjustment than normal ones. Even if its only a couple mm thats enough. Tom Booth
If you do end up moving the mounts away from the stays apposed to along them, I'd be looking at a booster rather sharpish. The additional height on the mounts will giev the brake soo much more leverage, making your brake spongey as hell/flexing your frame past what its supposed to, making the frame more likely to snap around the top of the stays.
