hdmackay
Platform platform platform platform!!Haha. In my opinon platform are far far superior to caged. Caged have one advantage and one only. They are lighter. All my friends or people I have ridden with, their caged pedals always break. The outer cages always snap off or in some cases the pedal itself snaps. I find platforms are alot grippier, are definately a hell of alot stronger and also, if your pins fall out, you can replace them. They just feel more comortable in general. And even though caged aint as grippy, they hurt a hell of a lot more when you pedalslap. :/Platform.

MiuSliS
+1 On platform. Caged are ok if you use for one time competition. But if you want to really ride go platform. Edited August 2, 2009 by MiuSliS
Rich J
Look for wide bodied platforms for your sized feet.
Captain Scarlet
I find caged terrible for grip, as there isn't really as much of a protruding grip (like the pins of a platform pedal).Platform pedals are also a lot more withstanding, they can take being landed on, okay you occasionally loose the odd pin but they don't bend like the caged pedals. Echo-Scott
All my friends or people I have ridden with, their caged pedals always break.Am I not your friend Hunter? My cages are coming on a year old now and there still perfect. The outer cage is a little bit bent in but apart from the usual scratches. There perfect. mr ailsbury
Ridden with Caged pedals (VP's) Ever since I started riding. Never had any problems with how long they lasted or grip except for when I very first started riding and they got bashed around loads.Only ever had 2 pairs of platform pedals on my trials bike, Shin digs, which lasted literally 1 gap, I slid down to pedal and the one that hit the wall just snapped clean in half. and Onza Hognesiums, they were quite good but the pins snapped out really easily.I ride with Hoffman Solemate pedals on my BMX which are really comfy and grippy! They come in a few different colours as well which is pretty cool. Had them for ages now and only snapped 1 pin out.Oh yeah, I wear UK size 12 shoes.
