PaRtZ
i have a meek outlook on this...leave I may have missed the point here, but british cycling have said no because Joes not good enough. But as JIX said if no one else is better, why not let him on? Or is it British Cycling would have to fund him? (because the jist I got was that they dont fund riders)
weirdoku
So the selection process is base on how well you do in comps, so if one year none of the British riders pass this selection there won't be anyone going? If it's 10 spaces, why not pick 10 guys with the best results?

I would have LOVED to have done to Australia, but an injury back in march ruined it for me because of the selection process. HOWEVER, two of the selected riders managed good results earlier in the year but injured themselves recently meaning I am now fitter and possibly in for a better chance at a good result then them but I am still not considered (although to be fair I havn't asked to go as I can't afford it now).I can see why Joe is pissed, the selection process needs a re working! If they were paying hen fair enough. I not on here purley because a friend of mine has been let down I'm trying to raise the awareness of the silly selection policy we have. Fill the team for gods sake. You were harshly done by last year and I said nothing about it due to me not understanding it So I fully back shouting about to anyone this year. JackMeek
At the stage this has got to Joe just needs our support. In a good way it has highlighted selection policy and how it could be better. It would be awful to see this carry on into 2010 and effect another rider at this level. The rider/riders is more important than Biketrial federation but Biketrial federation play a important role towards our sport at UCI and do a good job at it. I wonder if there would not be an issue if he had been backed because in the Britishcycling policy it is all about CONSIDERING. Which means could he of had a refrence to get him in through Biketrial Federation? link to poilicy- http://www.biketrialuk.co.uk/Documents/UCI...on%20Policy.pdfIs that possible Barbra? totaltrials
A selection policy isnt a very good selection policy if it doesnt fill the team. Being results driven is fine, but if hardly anyone meets your set criteria you surely get the few who do and then move the goal posts down until you have the number of team riders you want. Then deal with people who can and cant go.That's spot on. The selection policy also says:"Selections may be made of younger, or lessexperienced riders who have an identified need to experience competition at this level and are deemed tohave the potential to win medals in Major Championships in future years."So why don't they fill the places up, give Joe extra experience and maybe next year he'll be getting better results. It's understandable if the team was full but it's not.If the team isn't full, what's the point in not giving someone the chance. Are British cycling too ashamed if someone doesn't make the top 10? Why don't we all just give up now, we may aswell, nobody is going to get anywhere. This wouldn't matter if it was Joe or another rider at a similar level, it's the Selection process Jack and other people seem to be questioning. .mitch
yeah it's the same deal here.. some of our top riders aren't given any support.eg, one year Joe Brewer went over to Livigno (05?) for the world champs, and you need to have a "coach" for each discipline. Usually one of the others just says "yeah" and they put their name down on paper, as coach. Not that they have to do anything. Then this particular dude in this particular year decided to say "no, I won't put my name on it". SO we had to send over another senior trials dude just to accompany him..Anyway-If brits or anyone need help/time to kill between AUS and NZ, please get in touch with meJack should have my email and details.Mitch Edited August 3, 2009 by .mitch
