I'm Wanting To Purchase A Bike...

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I'm extremely interested in purchasing a bike from Tartybikes; I've been browsing this forum for a while now as a guest and have read all the advice given to new members about trying before buying... So, I've tried and tested a few bikes now, all 3 sizes, a few 20" bikes, one 24" bike and a few 26" bikes. I've decided that I should buy a 20" bike, as I deffinately feel more comfortable on a mod in comparrison to a 24" and a 26". I've been browsing around the Tartybikes website and I'm completely stumped on what I should begin with, I've got a budget of about £700 and have been edging towards an Echo Lite '09; I was wondering if anyone could throw some advice my way on what would be the best bike to begin on? Some help would be really appreciated!

Thanks in advance :)

Hey there mate.

Sounds like you have a very big budget there.

As it's your first ever trials bike you don't need to spend nearly that much.

Ofcourse, you can, but if you find out you don't like trials after you've spent that amount on a bike then it may be a little bit of a waste.

I would recommend something like this: http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?pr...;category_id=10,

because it's a very good starter bike, and very light and strong for the money.

Or, if you still do want to blow a whole £700, then get this: http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?pr...;category_id=10

Thanks for your reply :)

The Atomz is highly tempting! I was wondering if it would be better for myself if I were to purchase a second hand bike with a high specification and modify the parts subject to how I want them?

Yes actually mate, going second hand would be a much better idea for a beginner like yourself.

And you'll only need to spend £400 - £500 to get a very high spec bike.

When you become verified on here, take a look in the for-sale section, and make a post in the wanted section.

Some really good deals pop in there every so often and you're bound to find something you like.

And if that fails, there's always Ebay (Y)

Hello matey,

Welcome to the forum - I just suggested you be validated as that's a good first post. As said above you should look at second hand, you can get some real bargains on the For Sale section so once you're validated you should check that out.

I can't really help on specifics as I know literally nothing about Mods.

Brilliant, thank you! =D

Yeah, I've seen a fair few nice bikes waiting to be given to good home in the For Sale section, I've also seen a few nice ones floating about on Ebay, as I said though, I'm just not particularly sure on exactly what it is I want! I think I'm going try out a few more mods before I take the big leap and buy one!

With a £700 budget you will get nearly best bike out there for trials on the second hand Market. The ideal

Thing to do is spend 450 and keep the rest back for maintence cost. You are in a very strong situation to end up with dream bike. Once validated you could post a wanted post for a high spec 20". there are alot of 20" after season use from compition pro's/riders which are

Great for all riding styles when

Starting up.

Good luck don't rush which it seems your not doing.

On the other hand one bonus about

Getting a brand new trials bike is warranty and customer service.

Find what hight you are and copy the geometry of a proffesional rider the same hight. Then over time tweak it to how your style develops.
