Grovesy93
I'm going to get the Diamondback Tekiya 2008 and I like everything about it apart from the rear 8 gears and I was wondering if it is possible to change it to a single gear? RossMcd
You can run single speed on it yes but If I were you, Save up for a new frame as soon as you get it Wont take long till it snaps. Mine snapped within a month on the drive side chainstay where it meets the bb!
Elliot
I'm going to get the Diamondback Tekiya 2008 and I like everything about it apart from the rear 8 gears and I was wondering if it is possible to change it to a single gear?Yep. ride the bike around for a while and pick which gear you like the best. Count how many teeth are on that gear and order one from tarty or selectbikes, make sure you get a wide based sprocket or there is a danger it will dig into the freehub. To go with the sprocket you will also need some spacers which go either side of the sprocket to take up the space that was used by the cassette. You will also need a tensioner. You can use the derailurer off your bike as is (provided you lock it out) or you can buy a tensioner. I would suggest you give the guys at tarty or selectbikes a call, either would be happy to talk you through, and advise you on what best to purchase.spose I better get back to work now! Grovesy93
Is it cheaper just to buy a bike with a single gear set or to upgrade this one. I need to know as I'm going to get a bike soon. Also on another note should I be looking at other 26" bikes as I'm 6'2" or should I look at the 20" bikes
kyeo00
If i where you i'd just save up for a better bike :/That's really not a good bike :/You'd have to replace most of the parts in no time. GL!Mat.If you don't have ''big'' money, get a 20" off tartybikes.co.ukThe Onzas are fine!

bikeperson45
If I were you I'd get the single speed kit from Tartybikes, then just use your derailleur as a tensioniser, works fine for me. Plus it saves money then you could save up for new parts bike, whatever

totaltrials
With the Tekiya bikes be aware if you buy one online in a box they aren't set up. It's usually ok but the Tekiya isn't built with the correct parts. They do give you the correct parts to change around but your have to do this yourself. I think it's the bottom bracket, driveside crank and bashguard that needs changing. The Tekiya is a decent bike, I even prefare it to the higher model (Kabuki mono). The V-brakes a very good and it comes with some half decent components, especially for the price. We have one in the shop now (Selectbikes) fully built and ready to go. If you wanted to buy one and change it to singlespeed we could do that for you for a small amount extra. It'd be a case of changing the cassette to a single cog, adding spacers and changing the mech to a single speed tensioner. We can look into it and do you a cheaper price for the extra parts and fit them for free.We have the bike on sale at £219 and comes proffesionally built up and ready to go if you collected it from the shop (Merseyside), otherwise it'd just be a case of putting the bars on and the front wheel from out of the box.You can call the shop on 0151 527 1537 if you want to discuss anything (Selectbikes/Maghull Cycles).Thanks.Phil.
