Hi all

I just changed my rim tape on the wheel and when i put the tyre on and pump it up it bulges and comes off at 20 psi!

I can buy a new tyre i know but id rather not, could anyone tell me what the problem is and how to fix it if posible?

Cheers

Jack

This happend to my bike once too,

its most probably that you have being trying alot to get your tyre on and levering too much, meaning that the wires in your tyre have broken and can no longer keep the tyre sturdy in its original shape when it is being put under pressure.

in short,

You need a new tyre >_<

This happened to my Crawler on my rear wheel.

Kept popping off at parts of the rim sometimes when I pumped it up.

All I had to do though was try and hold and push the tyre inwards as much

as I could when I was pumping it up and it didn't do it.

I don't know if your situation is sort of the same or alot worse though,

so don't know if this will help you at all :P

Pump the tyre until the tube is just past pressing on the whole tyre, then work around the rim on both sides setting the tyre to exactly the same height all around the rim on both sides (Most tyres will have a line moulded near the tyre bead that you can use to judge this). Keep an eye on the tyre for more settling as you pump it. If it still pops off then the tyre bead may well be damaged and you'll need a new tyre.
