joshlyd1
13t or 12t I have 27t front 13t rear and that is a perfect hard/easy ratio for dirt or go for a cassette and have 25t 9t as most bmxers use or just have a go on different ratios Hope i helped Josh.. Muel
From my experience 22t on the front is useless for dirt jumping, I was running 24:11 at one point and it was way too low.
sstein
For MTB dirt jumping the normal ration is 2:1 so the norm is 32:16, I personally think that is still a bit light and use somewhere between 36:16 and 36:12 depending on the run in. 22t front chainring will be sh*t unless you are riding jumps that have a roll in so require no pedalling in which case gearing doesn't really matter. Luke_zoo
Would like to to ride to places to place too.
sstein
Are you going to be using it as a trials bike as well? If not go for 32:16 or faster, if you are doing trials as well you would be best of with a 32t chainring and gears!
gussie
I used to run 33 to 11. On a dirt jumper was pretty sweet. Could accelerate easily and get a pretty good top speed. But i agree with what others say 22 is too small for DJ. This is all presuming you don't want to do anything but jumping on it.
ashk16
if you run a 11 on the back thats going to be the closest your going to get to the standard 32:16 going by the sum: number of teeth on the front sprocket / number of teeth on the rear sprocket x wheel size so 22/11x26=52 you want something in the region of 55 for the best average gearing (32/16x26=55) you can use the same sum for all bikes and gearing just alternate the wheel size.i run 38 on the front and 16 on the back thats a 61 fairly hard but just right for me on a 26'' wheel hope that helps a bitash.
