Mark W
What with all that prep work, redbull can't afford to have the jump sequence filmed using pro HD camerasMy flatmate works for Red Bull, and has told me a lot of particularly interesting things about the business side of things. They could've easily afforded that if they thought it was worth it. It's been designed the create video for viral marketing, so they're not going to be too fussed about how HD the end result is. It's happened, they got a load of publicity, they win for minimum effort...

Red bull still tastes like shit though
Mark W
Haha, you get used to it pretty quick when your morning drink decision is "f**k about making coffee from a cafetiere with a hole in the bottom" or "Take a can of cold Red Bull from the Red Bull fridge."In related news, man I f**king love chilled Red Bull Cola. If it's even slightly warmer than 'really cold', f**k no. But when it's cold, om nom nom.
Sam Nichols
Hmmmm, I'm not convinced! I've got one of these babies, I'd put my neck out and say that the time it takes to make me a coffee is, in comparison to the time it takes to crack open a Red Bull, negligible. Shame there is no more Urban Games event at chapham common.

But when it's cold, om nom nom. You've gotta be joking? That stuff tastes like cheap supermarket cola, although that may have just been the bitter taste in my mouth from paying over a quid for a small can of bog standard coke with a big bull drawn on the front of it I take it your mate gets shit loads of free red bull? Jammy b*****d!
Mark W
They could have setup and shot that sequence on a sunday morning, long before the tourists start roaming around. publicity wise is still sh*te for not doing it in front of a general public audience, esspecially with the Redbull X-Fighters 09 event just around the corner where redbull need all the promo power they can muster to pull punters in for ticket sales. Shame there is no more Urban Games event at chapham common. There are people all over Tower Bridge from pretty much 6am on Sunday mornings. They had to try and minimise disruption, hence doing it on a weekday night, for 1 hour. The whole point is that it's a viral marketing campaign, so instead of there being a load of hype for it and it being over once the trick is done, they can release it and get way more hits. That's why it was the BBC's number 1 viewed video for the day it happened, same for the Telegraph, etc. People were shocked that it had happened, and so more people checked it out, rather than it being built up for ages.Regarding the Red Bull X-Fighters, they've had X-Fighters demos in Glasgow and Edinburgh last weekend (I think it was those two, anyway), and Leeds and Cardiff this coming weekend. They take over a piece of the centre of each city, and have a truck that has a launch and landing built into it, all the Red Bull event vehicles (e.g. DJ trucks, Wings girls trucks, etc.), have parties afterwards and so on. They've been attracting massive audiences and generating a hell of a lot of hype for it. The whole point of Robbie Maddison doing the jump as a viral thing was coinciding with these demos to generate the maximum publicity for it. Red Bull know how to market themselves, which is why they're still significantly further ahead of Rockstar, Relentless, Monster, etc., despite some of those companies having massive financial backing, offering a wider range of products, and so on.Hmmmm, I'm not convinced! I've got one of these babies, I'd put my neck out and say that the time it takes to make me a coffee is, in comparison to the time it takes to crack open a Red Bull, negligible.'cos mine's not electric or anything, it takes longer. Can't really afford/be bothered to get one of those, as good as they'd potentially be...
