mr_malcolm
Dont know how well it will work if it will work at all. It seems theres a fair few people on here that work in the Cycle industry so thought we could have a thread for us guys to generally bitch and moan about manufacturers etc and discuss the industry etc.

JD™
Gay mags? Nothing personal obm, just couldn't resist.I didn't even see that coming. Would be an awesome career move though. No, staying predominantly in the 2 wheeled arena. It's a very exciting time for me if I get it. If not then I'll be a bum in no time, needless to say I wont be at MBR for long!

Greetings
I'm not sure those who work in the industry would want to talk about their job and it's details in front of all their customers.
Pashley26
Bikehut massiv f**k off to the Hellfrauds thread. -I worked at Cycleworks in Burpham for 2 years, now I work at "Winklebury Cycles" which professes to be the south premier cycles shop. We've got over 500 bikes in stock, and over 40 suppliers ! Hectic work when theres 4 of us...I'll start off the bitching, WTF are Cube up to ? We've been waiting over 6 months for the whole range to come through and so far we've had a couple of Limiteds (not the whole range like we ordered!), a few Attentions, a couple of AMS's (only 100's...) and one Stereo. But we've ordered over 300 bikes from them ? Also, WTF is it with Shimano prices at the moment ! There ridiculous and they've never got anything in stock at Madison, so we've been ordering through Massi instead Edited July 10, 2009 by Pashley26

Revolver
so we've been ordering through Massi instead I tell you what about massi, they make some own brand lock-on grips, and the grips wear down pretty quick but the clamps are bloody good, loads better than the odi ones, where you round out the bolt pretty much straight away. I think it's cause the massi ones use 3mm and the odi 2 or 2.5mm. Either way, I'm keeping these clamps.

Just going to have little glass display cases with bits they'd probably build up into a bike if they rode EDIT: JD - I don't know anything about you so it's hard to work out what a 'perfect placement' would be. Equally, all I knew was that Gunner was the ads dude for Ride magazine and that's the extent of my knowledge...

Revolver
Apparently, Deng doesn't breathe ordinary air. In fact, he inhales oxygen and exhales argon which prevents his welding from oxidizing. Edited July 11, 2009 by Revolver

Captain Scarlet
I'm not sure those who work in the industry would want to talk about their job and it's details in front of all their customers. What the trials community..? I'd imagine trials is probably less than 5% of the industry currently, it's a bike old market out there.I personally think any workers of Halfords shouldn't be allowed to post in here, I wouldn't consider it as mover in the cycle industry, mainly because it gives people the wrong impression that you can get a good quality cycle for under £100, making most independant cycle retailers look a joke.Exchange rate is bollocks, naturally it puts the prices of production up, leading into cost and therefore retail prices. But it's almost guaranteed prices won't go down when the exchange rate sorts itself out.
Mark W
Butyl, the material they use to make tyres and tubes, is in short supply at the mo and the price for that's gone up by a shitload, so that's bumped prices up. Raw material prices are up too, without factoring in the exchange rate. So yeah, it's not just the global economy itself that's f**king up bike prices, it's also the raw material prices and labour costs that are doing it. So the economy could sort itself out, but that's not going to sort out the butyl shortage or indeed the cost of steel, which was rising before the economy went to shit. It'll help, but there are still going to be underlying problems.
