Papa Manual
This might be a stupid question, but have you restarted it? This happens on my PC sometimes and it appears after a cold boot.

Papa Manual
Restart your computer and there will be a prompt as soon as it starts to boot up to go into setup or BIOS (I think it's usually F1 or something). Follow the menus through and there should be a list of devices such as your HDD and what not. Check to see if your PC has detected the DVD drive. Also, does it open when you press the eject button? Muel
Easy Guys,PeaceHello 1973. It's a wierd one, try going to control panel and add new hardware. Never actually done it but it's the first thing that springs to mind.
Redneck
if the drive is removable, remove it and clean the connectors that plug in to the mother board. that might help a tad.

Unplug the drive IDE or SATA cable and switch back on. Once into windows switch off again and replug the cables to your drive. Switch the machine back on and follow the add new hardware prompts.
