zoobert
im soon getting new forks that have both mounts for hydrolic rim brakes and a hydrolic disk brake but i am not sure which to run?... any help will be appreciated THX GUYS!hi there ,what type of fork is it that you're going to be using ? In my experience it'll need to be a strong fork to handle a set of hydrolic rim brakes , I ran a magura on the front of my bike with an echo sl fork and the fork snapped like a twig . (3 days after warrenty expired) anyway Im swapping to a disk brake on the front so that i can get better brake modulation cheers Edited July 6, 2009 by zoobert
wee neil
What Brake do you have already? Its down to what you can afford and what you feel suits your style. If you want a disc you don't need to buy an expensive Hydraulic one, you could buy a cable disc like an Avid BB5 or BB7 as they work almost as well and in some cases better. Hope this helped. Bol Maaaaaaing
im soon getting new forks that have both mounts for hydrolic rim brakes and a hydrolic disk brake but i am not sure which to run?... any help will be appreciated THX GUYS!Hey mate, Try to use more capitals and correct spelling and you'll get validated quicker I run duel disk and they work good, however if your getting hydrolic disks, get a good one. I have a Hayes Stroker Ryde disk on the front and the seals have broken a bit and they leak oil and dont work that great now. I have a BB5 on the back that works great, Get a cable disk if anything.Avoid Juicy 3's at all cost, Ive gone through 3 of them.
wee neil
Go for the magura louise... but if you dont like it try the HS12. What is a HS12? Never heard of that before
onzatrip
get a bb7 best brake ive ever used on front the hold is amazing! also hydro discs are not crap you just have to maintian them like any other brake
Ben-Shogun gimp
Hey, I run disk on the front and it is way better than any hydraulic brake and cable brake I have ever seen, and all my mates have said the same thing. Its a cable disc and i don't even know what make it is i bought it for £5 off my mate and after we both set it up it was amazing, so in my opinion its not the brake its the way its set up and also the pads have a lot to do with it.Ben
onza_t_comp_boi
i run dule disc hope mono on the rear and a avid bb7 on the front .. i find discs so much nicer to ride with jumps to front are nice to do because you can roll with no sound lol
Alex Dark
Personally, id use a BB7 old style front cable disc....some mono trial setups ive used have been comparable though, just depends on your budget Doubt id use a rim brake on the front for any reason other than saving weight
pogo
get a bb7 best brake ive ever used on front the hold is amazing! also hydro discs are not crap you just have to maintian them like any other brakeWhat tris said, the bb series is so easy to use, setup and maintain it's unbelievable

Andaba
If you're a "learner" then disks are easily damaged - that badly timed sidehop could cost £100 instead of a bit of paint...
pogo
i run a hope try all mono trial and its really awesome so i disagree with you there mate.Use - about the same cable probs have better modulationSetup - Nothing in itMaintainence - Cables are easier to repair no bleeding, no contamination of pads and levers can be flipped to run either way up, hopes you cant. hoptoit
i run a hope m4 07 on the rear of my downhill bike u can manual sitting down or standing up.when u grab a hadfull of rear brake the front always comes down in the wet or dry it's always there when things go pear shaped.i havent bled it since ive bought it hope is the best the avid bb series 5 an 7 are wicked powerful so is a front mag or even a mono mini but rember it's a pain in the arse when you land on a disc i'm cytech qualified and discs take a good half hour to get properley straight it's your choice hydraulic cable both awsome
