TrialsMan Dan
Im looking to buy the new 26" Echo SL forks from tarty and i was just wondering if anyone is currently using them and if so what do yout think? I was originally going to buy the '09 Urbans but they dont have any in stock. What are the differences between the two (apart from the obvious weight difference and caliper mount). Would it be better to wait until the Urbans are in stock or just get the SL's?
N.Wood
It seems pretty common for the SLs to snap, so unless you're a very light comp rider and can afford to replace them often, I wouldn't bother.
Ali C
The SLs are perfectly fine in disc only, it was just the 4-Bolt mount that caused them to break, we have stopped selling the 4-Bolt model now and have had no returns on the disc only.We do have the 09 Urbans in stock: http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?pr...;category_id=40 (New dropouts, disc mount and anodised finish for the black forks)
Greetings
The SLs are perfectly fine in disc onlySurely not? I've seen heaps of broken ones, both disc and 4bolt. Also a disc brake surely puts much more stress on the stanchions than a rim brake? I had 4bolt SL forks and they broke off far away from the brake mounts. David Biddleâ„¢
I have been using a set of Echo SL disc only forks for the last 3 to 4 months they seem fine the only thing i would say theres alot of flex from them.I would go for something like Ali C said the SL forks are good but like said above this post you need to be a fair light rider while using these forks.Biddle Edited July 4, 2009 by David Biddleâ„¢
TrialsMan Dan
We do have the 09 Urbans in stock: http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?pr...;category_id=40 (New dropouts, disc mount and anodised finish for the black forks)Yeah but not in disc only, which is what im looking for
eskimo
This is the thread worth reading. The opening picture appears to have disk only, on the mod version too. It's clear this fork is a waste of space for anyone who even uses a front brake or taps.Whoops, here's the link. forteh
Also a disc brake surely puts much more stress on the stanchions than a rim brake? I had 4bolt SL forks and they broke off far away from the brake mounts. In theory it puts more of a bending moment on the legs, however the 4bolt mounts introduce a stress raiser where theyre welded on - Im guessing a failure of dengs heat treatment/material design is the culprit. Not saying that disk only SL forks havent snapped This is the thread worth reading. The opening picture appears to have disk only, on the mod version too. It's clear this fork is a waste of space for anyone who even uses a front brake or taps.Whoops, here's the link. That disk has 4bolt mount and theyve snapped just on the edge of the weld on the top mount. Still agree that the fork is too light for sensible trials use. Guest
mine seem to be holding up (20") ive ust started learnign a few taps so maybe il stay away from them now i saw that other topic these forks are incredibly thin, i put them up against my friends echo lites and you can clearly see the difference in the width of the fork.i dont think id buy another pair if these snapped, theres nothing special about them (besides the weight).
