Sam Nichols
I'm struggling to find what I need.37mm threadwide enough for trials but not too 'fishy'about £50 for a camcordercan anyone help? Matthew62
37mm is very specific and probably doesn't exist unless part of a zoom lens then passes through 37mm. Also, 37mm isn't wide at all, and its its on a crop sensor DSLR then its most definetly not wide. I'm guessing you're after a prime lens? Also, actually is it for a video camera or a photo camera, film, digital????? Can't really help if you don't say what its for, and lastly for £50 you ain't gunna find screw all! Joe Aston
he probably means 37mm thread size for a video camera if that is the case then just search 37mm lens in ebay and loads of lens will come up but the quality of these lens is awful but each to there own.http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_trk...-All-Categories because im nicejoe
Sam Nichols
Yeah I forgot to say it was for a camcorder, and I have seen the ones on ebay but they all looked like unbranded shit to me.I was thinking along the lines of a few lenses that people use/have used and are good that I can then look on ebay and other sites to try and find a secondhand one in good nick for cheap.Edited my OP. Sam Nichols
Cheers! But I'm not looking for a massively distorted fisheye if that's what you're thinking of?You can go a little bit wider without the shot looking fished.
Revolver
Yeah, I think a proper wide angle is very useful for filming, and you can get them that barely distorts round the edges. Krisboats has a good wide-angle.
Krisboats
Mine was some cheapy jobby that i got off ebay. Came with a macro adapter and i wide angle lens and when using the two together it makes a big difference with how much more you get in the shot but you don't end up with footage that looks like you're carrying an apartment door around strapped to the camera. Makes life a lot easier with regards to allowing for shooting in tighter spaces.Pretty sure it was something like this... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/37-mm-37mm-0-45X-Wid...93%3A1|294%3A50A lot of people will moan about the glass quality but to be fair unless you're using a HD camera then the lens quality isn't going to be massive due to the lack of image resolution from the camera's sensor anyway. Sam Nichols
Nice one, I'll look into that.Being only £14 it's worth a punt at least.
Greetings
Raynox with an adaptor.HD3030 is very good, you need an adaptor ring though.Could be a bit over your budget, maybe get one 2nd hand.
Sam Nichols
This looks spot on actually.
Greetings
Had an HD6600 (0.66) and it was a bit narrow. You might want to look at getting something wider. http://www.vimeo.com/2133753This is shot with an 0.3 (HD3030 52mm -> 43mm)Pretty sure this one is shot with the HD6600:http://www.vimeo.com/1205357edit: DCR and HD are of different quality, don't know if you'd notice it on a normal DV camera. Sam Nichols
I was thinking 0.3 would be way more distorted than that!
Greetings
It also depends on the size of the conversion lens. I've got a 52mm with a 43mm adaptor ring so the angle and distortion shouldn't be as bad as if it was a direct fit.
Sam Nichols
That doesn't really make a lot of sense to me I'm afraid :$ Does the step up make a dramatic difference to the fishyness or am I barking up the wrong tree?
TJ. Sam Nichols
Just thought I'd ask again as I'm still not sure I've got this right.. If using adapters, the bigger the step, the less distortion/fishiness?
Steve-A
Yes, but also if its a fish eye type lens rather than true wide angle then most of the extra width will be at the edge of frame, as so wit ha big step down you'll end up with less wideangleness*.*Technical term
