CurtisRider
I think alot of people stash them under their beds (if the bed allows).
Papa Manual
I'm in the same situation. From the different unis I have visited it seems as though some are fairly lax on people keeping bikes in their rooms, others not. I'm probably going to get a road bike as well, just for bombing about on, and there's no way I'm keeping either of them in a lock-up where any other f**ker with a bike can get to 'em. JonMack
I kept mine in the cleaning cupboard at the end of the corridor.
NVWOCI WVS
I kept my bikes in my room after someone tried to steal my leeson from the bike lock-up. (the very same one Prawn's ashton was lifted from). Left tyre marks all over the walls, but nobody seemed to care!
ZeroMatt
If you staying in one of the unite ones in Plymouth they really don't like you taking the bike(s) upstairs although you can get away with it easily.
Mark W
You weren't allowed to at mine, but if anyone ever spoke to me about it I just said it was pretty valuable so I didn't want to leave it outside, and also pointed out that my bike was clean and wouldn't drop oil and mud everywhere. Simpson
Mine is going to stay no-where but tucked up in my bed, weather I have to winch it in through my window or not.
Revolver
If you have QR wheels, or even if not, and you also undo the stem bolts, a bike will fold pretty flat so you could put it a few places - under the bed, in the wardrobe, in the bathroom if you have one... weirdoku
Just keep it in your room, when there's a room check take it down the bike locks before they come and then put it back in your room after they've checked your room. This is what I did.But yeah like revolver said, you'll have to compact your bike one way or another if you want to put it under your bed or in the ensuite, even if you are staying in the most expensive halls. Davetrials
Well ive applied for an ensuite so theres a bit of space, and i dunno weather to leave it at home, and get it posted to me after a few weeks, or take it down when i drive down, eek i dunno. Mark W
'cos posting a complete bike is hassle (and expensive), whereas you could just take it down with you, have no problems and get to ride straight away?

Mark W
Yes. Even just for getting around town and stuff at first. Not to mention if Plymouth's anything like my uni, a lot of stuff in Freshers Week will be utter shart and you'll want to be doing anything other than go to the SU... Mark W
I just meant that there's more to getting wasted at uni than the advertised shit in freshers week. I wanted to go out and do stuff, but our SU's fresher nights were shit. Properly shit. Literally full of pikey f**kends. So yeah, we just went somewhere else and got liquored up there. weirdoku
I doubt you're ensuite has enough room for a bike and you to move freely around in. Just take it down if you have enough car space, don't worry about being caught either. I bumped into the halls people several times with my bike on the way out and I just said you didn't see me and they said nope we didn't. I haven't been warned or anything either.I don't know about your halls but mine had a shared bike shed thingy. There was about 50 bikes in there, behind one locked door with multiples of the same key being handed out to whoever used the shed. One of my friend had 3 of his bikes robbed, got a new one from insurance but got robbed again. I kept my shit bike in there and my mod in my room and I still have my shit bike. I've only had 2 room checks in my first year and they don't come and look in your room when they want.I know some halls specifically say no bikes in your rooms but they also say no smoking, none of my friends has been caught either. Mark W
I know some halls specifically say no bikes in your rooms but they also say no smoking, none of my friends has been caught either. When you get into uni, there's the implication from them that they're dealing with adults, and they do generally treat you as such. Basically, you don't get 'told off' like you would do when you're younger or whatever. They generally just let you get on with whatever you're doing as long as you're not causing them hassle. Tomm
Make friends with the cleaners or whoever checks the rooms. A couple of cups of tea doled out will make things run very smoothly for you.If you get caught going in/out of your room, there's always the "I need(ed) to fix it and the tools are in my room" excuse
