mr ailsbury
Right I've somehow snapped the drive shell on my King so obviously I need to replace it, just wondering whether its worth forking out £113.53 for the steel one or is the £55.79 alloy one just as good?cheers
aener
To be honest - this is the first problem I've heard with driveshells - so either everyone's got steel ones, or the ally one is good enough Sorry I can't be more help. Mine's not steel.
forteh
Mines alloy and not really had any problems with it, you need to have really wide based sprockets to stop them digging in though. Kingcogs still dig in alittle but not much.Bear in mind I dont stamp on the pedals and dont put much force through the driveshell
aener
I'm just running a cassette cog It's digging in - but it's taken 3 years of Boumsong stamping down on it the same way... Pretty sure I'll be Ok
brick_top
How wide your sprocket's base is?Standart XC sprockets can dig in steel shell.
forteh
How wide your sprocket's base is?Standart XC sprockets can dig in steel shell.Mine had been run with a standard xc sprocket before I got it, cut almost half way through the splines The king cog digs in about 1/2mm and the trialtech lite is absolutely fine without digging in. JonMack
I was under the impression the axle was steel on the BMX hub, at least thats what ck.com says.

JonMack
CK BMX axle is different to HD axles, other than the obvious fact it's shorter, it uses threaded inserts and 3/8" bolts.
