ashk16
Hi guys, this is my first post so go easy please I am going to be buying a trials bike soon to start the sport on, i have a basic idea of what i want- a mod because i feel that my 26'' jump bike is hard to throw arround and fancy something a bit smaller and agile. I would also like hydraulic rim brakes or some good disks as i dont seem to get on with cable disks and v's to well (apart from bb7's on my old bike) but other than that i am not very clued up, i dont understand why freewheels are used on the front aswell as or instead of the back and stuff like that, i haven't got the money yet but should have after few weeks work and i am looking to spend no more than £250 as i have to save for a car aswell Before its said i am not looking to buy now, otherwise i would be posting this in the wanted thread, i would just like an idea of what is what, what i should be looking for and expecting to get with that budjet! Thanks in advance and sorry about poor spelling,Ash
Jitters
Welcome aboard!Seems like you've got it pretty well figured out. Your limiting factor will be your budget. I'd say start with shopping for specials at places like tarty and the like. Might be able to find something nice there. Your other option is to buy used, but do a little homework before you drop the cash on something from someone who may have a bad reputation.Search these forums for the info you want regarding the front freewheel (FFW) or a freehub and your hydraulic brake question. Lots of good posts regarding that kinda stuff and the pros and cons of each. I use a FFW because that's what my first mod had and I've just stuck with it.Chances are, if you're buying a complete bike you won't have too many choices to make, as most of the parts will be picked out for you. You can then upgrade or change parts as you progress and decide you don't like a particular setup.Hope that was a bit of help. Good luck! Nickkkkk
hiyya mate, since your new to trials, buying a brand new bike is a silly choice imo, £250 is plenty of money to get a great specced 2nd hand 20" bike, i'd probably look no further than the for sale section on this site or maybe ebay. MikeCottTrials
even second hand you wont get a great bike for 250 but you should be able to get something to get you started. as for what it'll be i cant say, you need to keep your eyes open. ive seen some utter bargains on here but they dont come along often
J Trials 31
Just keep an eye out for what your looking for. Seems you want maggies on the rear instead of vees I guess. Not sure why, lol. I'd go front and rear disc or vees, but that's just because I don't like maggies that much.
