Fsa Pig

Ive put this in my new frame, tightened it up, went to ride, it was wobbly so i tightened it. Carried on, it got loose again so i tightened it. etc etc. up to the point where it was still rocking a bit and not turning.

Opened it up to find the top bearings gone everywhere and the bearings cage race bit mangled to hell :/

Does anyone know of a bodge to fix this? Otherwise im going to head down to my ball bearings man to see if he's got something suitable.

The cages in those are garbage Matt. Just get them out and fill the races with balls then pack it full of grease. (Y)

Or get an Orbit/Equipe, they're well worth the upgrade if you ask me! (Had two Equipes and one Orbit now, due to buying and selling bikes).

There is nothing wrong with the normal fsa pig, although the pig pro is worth the upgrade for the smoothness. Get a new bearing set of crc fit it normally it will come loose about 3 times just tighten it each time (not too much) and it will settle in. I found this sort of thing happens with most headsets when you fit them, everything just needs to compress a bit.

Do what Dave said, I did that with mine, and made sure I never had to take my forks out.

Only problem I had with my Pig, is that it was slightly oversized, so now I can just press my King in by hand! I can turn the top cup round with it done up, it's stiff though. Still works fine!

Find all the bearings, FILL!!!! the cups with grease and put the bearings in one by one, it works as a tempory bodge.

how temporary? :P If I can add more bearings which I may have lying around, will that help more?

It's not tempory at all, it makes the headset stronger and least longer if anything!

When I got one of these for my Scott YZ0, I took the cages out when it was new and fill the cups with bearings and packed it full of grease, and it was good for a year or so and seemed fine when I sold the bike.
