Dodgey Places And Scarey Stories.

While I was lookin at the map on my post, and seeing the abbey at the top, ive been reminded of another story, more funny than anything else now i look back on it. me and my mate where in that abbey at 15, with 2 15 year old birds, trying our hardest to get our end away, it was night, and the wind was howling through the brickwork and the arches, so it was creepy enough anyway . when one of the girls grabs my arm so hard it left a mark, I pretty quickly saw what she was so scared of, there was a bright white figure across the other side of the abbey standing in the arch way,as kids wed heard all the stories about the Monks and the "White Lady" that haunted there(the white lady had supposedly fallen to her death off the bridge on the right in that map). At this point, rational thinking went out of the window, as did the thinking of holding her tight and getting my hole after protecting her.I think fight or flight instinct must of kicked in as I launched off as fast as I could towards this figure,as I got close to him, he turned round, and turned out to be some kid in a bright white tracksuit who was camping in the field with his family,on the phone to his girlfriend. we just couldnt hear him talking because of the direction of the wind. he came over once he was finished on the phone and we got chatting, he did ask me, "why did you run towards what you thought was a ghost, and what where you gunna do when you got to it" and I still dont know the answer to that. was I going to try and kick sh*t into it, grab it in a headlock and take it home to mother to prove ghosts where real or what.

Well, me and Sam have recently discovered this place. Portsdown Main.

Although I've not had the guts to go in (though that may be changed in three weeks), I'm a little suspect of things that have been said on certain forums about it. Especially seeing as one set of people got arrested for going in by the MOD, and another left because he thought someone else was in the building (as Sam pointed out, security would have been quiet surely so they could catch you, so what could it have been?).

I really want to check this place out, but I ideally don't want to get a criminal record for doing so. This place looks so cool though!

As far as I've been able to work out, it use to be MOD but possibly isn't any longer, but they use to do research there. How ever, if I remember rightly, it's been deserted since 1997.

Did you get your end away though?

Yeah that's what we want to know, although i recon ghost-boy ruined it all!!!

Oh, and thankfully it was your arm at the point of the ghost appearing and not your cock (had you got a bit further ;))

This thread's way better than I thought it'd be!

Iain - Tomorrow we're heading out to Oakley, where there's an old bomb/ammo storage, or something... Sounds pretty cool!

Not too far from Aylesbury, and we're going in the afternoon sometime. Come along if you like!

Tonight we went into Tingewick woods, where the old RAF training ground used to be. There was a big group of us, 15 or so. Few torches, was fine. We walked through the track in the centre, and apparently 2 people we were with said they saw someone back at the gate near the cars, so they went back to look, no one was there. Thing is, the other night when they went there they said they saw someone there in the same place!

It was pretty boring in there though, everyone was getting hyped up from a load of stories about the place... Only one I know that's true is the murder of a 17yr old lad in there, and the one where my mates were camping there whilst someone got killed at the other side of the woods. Pretty dodgey stuff!

Good stuff in here. Gives me the heebie jeebies thinkin' about some of the situations you've all gotten yourself into. Probably a bit more colorful than I. Most of my spelunking was uneventful, like the tunnels under Savannah. We did crawl into an old boarded up hotel in my downtown area. Scariest stuff we found was some dead rats and an old bum sleeping off a hangover. If we had true nuts, we'd have gone back at night.

Map from my story: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source...=18&iwloc=A

I think that's it was still in working order when the pics were taken judging by the cars in there, and because when I used to go it looked like a bomb hit it. I reckon there was an industrial accident of some sort as one of the giant silos was on its side and had leaked some chemical that looked to have stained/burned the concrete. Those pics really don't do its size justice*. It's fecking enormous! The biggest building top left was where we used to paint. It looked like all the inside of is had caved in on itself, there were only patches of floor visible through layers of insulation from the roof, and other debris.

The smaller buildings near the words 'Snelsins Road' were weird as f*ck though. Admin type places. Boxes of biscuits left open (obviously completely disintegrated). The whole place stunk and everything was ruined.

*ooh, actually, to give an impression of its size, the building at point A is a school! (Used the school's postcode, you see)

Re Whittingham, I had a strange experience there once, with someone walking down the corridor past an open door to the room me and a mate were in, then just disappearing and being impossible to find. And on the way out footsteps from above even though there was no floor or traversable roof above that particular corridor. No doubt there are explanations for it, most likely our own minds overreacting. Back then in 2005, before it was totally destroyed by kids, it was quite a creepy place on an overcast day. Thatsaid, it could've been workers, as we did see some later getting into a van by the front gate...

Around about the late 90's, me and some friends used to go out clubbing, then drive up to a local disused mental asylum in Denbigh, North Wales. It's a massive place and eerie as hell, especially in our 'condition'. Plus the fact we'd have to break in and sometimes be hunted by security with torches and dogs.

Pictures sometimes speak louder than words. Imagine this place in the dark. Off your head.

Edit: Oh Yeah! I've just remembered a story about the asylum. When I was 14 ish, my Dad had a decorating firm employing around 14 or so men, and had a contract painting there. One summer holiday, he took me with him there to pick up a ladder. He explained that we could carry it all the way round the outside of the building (which was rather a long way) or we could cut through the corridor leading past the 'day room'. As we went through the double doors, pronouncing 'staff and patients only', my Father leading the ladder with myself picking up the rear, I will never forget the sight of a man darting out of the day room , confronting us with a rolled up magazine and my Dad shouting "Run!" As we tried to escape, carrying the ladder, I am left with the eternal image of the loony repeatedly whacking my Dad on the back of the head with the rolled up magazine as we ran to the exit doors. A male nurse calmed the fellow down and then came outside to comfort us with the words "You really shouldn't of walked through there". No Shit!

I got loads of adventure stories like this through graff missions and building ghetoo skateparks.

One time we got chased by about 20 pikeys who thought we were trying to steal their pillages. Had about a grands worth of camera equipment on my back an was sprinting away, one of them grabbed at my leg as we climbed a wall to get out but luckily only brushed my foot and didn't get a proper hold so we got away thank f**k.

Another time we actually made friends with a pikey family. We were building ramps in this abandoned warehouse and they would come in every day and wonder round kinda staying out of our way, was pretty wierd. One day one of them approached us an just started chatting asking what we were doing, turns out they were stripping all the copper wiring from the cielings to sell haha. Chatted to them on a few occasions. Those ramps ended up burnt down about 3 days after but i have no idea if it was them or not.

One time 3 of us were graffin in this abandoned mental hospital when 3 tramps walked in the door behind us and walked towards us. They all looked mad ratty and high as hell but luckily were friendly enough and just wanted to look :S In that same building we also found a manequins head covered in fake blood in the fridge (one of the scariest moments of my life when i opened the door haha).

Another place we used to go we stumbled upon about 8 tramps round a fire as we turned a corner into a room. Half of them were dozing so we just turned and left, but heard one of them shout that he'd seen us as we got out. The day after we went back an where you go in there was massive writing sketchily painted on the wall saying 'Stay Out', presumably by them

Also been chased by older writers trying to steal our paint a few times an stuff like that.

Think I'm getting good at thread making! :P

We went exploring in Oakley woods the other day, there's some old army stuff there, an old bomb storage area, and apparently an underground something-or-other! Was a bit of a trek, parked up, then walked about a mile down a track, then round where we found a few old buildings, now used for storage for wood. Few remains left dotted around the place. Was a nice explore!

I read that if you look hard enough through all the trees you will find a lot there, but most of the group I was with just stuck to the path. Boring... Me and my mate just darted off into the trees and sprinted through, it was fun!

If this is turning into the t-f urbex thread, this is my best conquest/ on going project...

295465_d387734b.jpg

The worlds' first iron framed building, the predecessor of the skyscraper.

I've been round all of it except the big tower, been foiled every time there :( Still determined to get to the top one day, security seems to have been stepped up recently though. It's an amazingly interesting building, there's loads of smaller buildings surrounding it too. It's currently covered in scaffold, and has been for a few years.
