Pashley26
Should it? That's how i'd say it in real life.I'm a little more than 90% sure that "Fed up of time wasters" is grammatically incorrect. I too might say that in real life, but in text form it looks a bit silly IMO.
adamtrials
Do you want to make me an offer then, Adam?At this time of night?! I work 9-7 solid, anything outside of that is a bonus I'll have a think tomorrow, I need to do some research. It's highly likely that there's gonna be a "we don't guarantee to buy bmxs" addition in the not too distant future, might be temporary, might be permanent, there's a huge list of reasons why which i'm not going into on here... Rich J
BMX's split can make decent money if advertised in the right places too...
adamtrials
Well for a start, I know nothing about the values of bmxs, and have no trusted friends that do, so without a very steep learning curve to learn about a very different type of bike valuations are gonna be a pain. Also I'm building a large stockpile of spare parts, and bmx components are totally different, and the stockpile is something quite important to the business plan. Right now I'm far more interested in moving into the xc/ dh markets, and bearing in mind webuyanycycle is not the only thing I'm working on day to day I need to stick to what I and my valuers know to start with. Perhaps I'm missing a huge opportunity but heh... I'll certainly try and research the used bmx market when I can, however I still have more reservations about them that I'd need to address before I plough my money into them. Mark W
If you've got any questions you need answering, feel free to drop me a PM. Trying to get people to buy BMX stuff is what I do day to day, so I've got a reasonable idea about The Market...

That way you keep your "guarantee" but don't get into something you're not comfortable with?

But yeah, that power is there and has been used already... Edited June 18, 2009 by adamtrials
JT!
Well, you could either do what was said and offer really low prices, or not buy them at all.But there's a problem with both, your website is webuyanycycle. So to not buy bmx's is going against your website name - which won't do your rep any good. But what also won't do your rep any good is offering people stupidly low prices on their bmx's.Best thing to do is make a deal with some bmx know-it-all who's got a little free time on their hands, make it do they don't ever have to have anything to do with the business other than valuing a bmx, then, give them a % of the profit. That way if they estimate too low, they miss out on money, and if they estimate too hight, little profit is made, meaning they get next to no money. Shaun H
If you ever get offered a black 2004 Kona Coiler-Dee-Lux with a little dent in the downtube and a slightly munched driveside dropout (from a rear mech commiting suicide ) please let me know. It's a nice business idea if you've got where to sell them on figured out. I can see it becoming a haven for bike thieves though...

adamtrials
got offered £300 pick up toopretty bad but i spose you've gotta make a profit somewhereIt's only pretty bad considering you're not one of the three categories of people who the service is aimed at That was a highball offer too, if you try to sell your bike some time in the future you'll discover that £300 with no waiting to find a buyer is actually quite a good offer.Like i've said before, you probably won't like the offer unless you've already tried selling your bike and realised how hard it is to get a buyer at the moment or want to pay a premium for good service. eskimo
I tried this the other day. Didn't want to make a topic for obvious reasons, but since there's now one i'll jump in.Mine was the Standard 250 24", which i would genuinely sell if i had a nice offer. But since you got to make some money and i'm in no rush to sell i didn't go with the offer. But the offer you did make shows that you need to 'read in' to the bmx market. But it would be a hard bike to sell, to the right person it would be worth allot.
adamtrials
But it would be a hard bike to sell, to the right person it would be worth allot.Yeah, I can't remember what I offered but I'm sure it was pretty low, I saw that they were valuable but not selling anywhere I looked. I can't afford to spend £500 on a bike and keep it for ages in the hope of getting a high price for it, that'd be financial suicide. I've got about 20 bmxs I need to work out prices for at the moment
