TykeTrial
After tonights Tyketrial Committee meeting a unanimous vote of the elected members has led to a regrettable change to this event.Only 24 pre entries have been received to date leaving the club no option other than to scrap the camping and free ride on the Saturday and instead focus the efforts of the volunteers on the Sunday trial itself. All those who have Pre entered for both the Saturday and Sunday will be reimbursed for the camping and food and will be permitted to ride on the Sunday. The rest of you wishing to ride on Sunday MUST have your entries with the secretary of the event no later than Thursday 18th June.NO ENTRIES ON THE DAY WILL BE ACCEPTED If you turn up without having pre entered you will be turned away. This will also be the policy for future events as there is absolutely no reason why all riders cannot send their entry off before they ride. Please do not try to camp on the venue on Saturday night as the farmer will be in his rights to prosecute you for trespassing. Tyketrials has removed the insurance for the Saturday and have canceled the request to camp so non of it's members or any member of the public has a right to camp at the venue. It is a sad occasion when riders lose any time to practice or ride together but due to the complete lack of commitment shown to this event no other option was open to the club. It must also be said that had it not been for the 24 riders who could be bothered to do as the club requested the Sunday trial would have been canceled as well. Thankyou to those people. Now it's the turn of those who haven't sent off their entry forms yet. Brimham Rocks is a superb venue and with the quality of sections we have had at the previous trials this should be a great event.REMEMBER - NO PRE ENTRY, NO RIDE, NO EXCUSES. YOU WILL BE TURNED AWAY.Regards,Neil RavenTyketrial Chairman Edited June 15, 2009 by TykeTrial

I seem to remember talk that it would be, it is worth going for that reason alone. It is a real shame that it has come to this, all you members of Tykes are playing a dangerous game here because without you entering trials they are impossible to organise, and the few that have bothered are going to miss out on what has come to be in my eyes the best two days of trials in the UK, it is always a real top event, fun on Sat and Sat night and then a full on comp on sunday.I am guessing that you havn't bothered to enter because now that I am not there to laugh at whilst showing my death defying skills there is no point, well far from it as Niel will be flying the flag for the sh@t riders.Come on lads and lasses don't let the club and all the hard work go to waste, enter you WILL enjoy it. If I wasn't sunning myself on the other side of the world I would be there for sure it is a blast.JP (ex tykes stallwart)sp?
TykeTrial
Wise words old man! John is right and is also aware what life is like without trials to hand. Tyketrials is probably the most organsied trials club in the UK at the moment but is being run down by the lack of support from it's members. The amount of effort that goes into organisng these events is incredible and the amount of time it takes to process entries on the day can and does delay the start of the trial. So have a go at getting your entry, including the entry fee, in the post when it comes through your door. The recent trial in Fort Bill was well supported and all the riders there, the majority of who only get to ride one organised trial a year, pre entered which is unheard of for a Tyketrials event. So come on get your entries in and get the club back on the rails, not just for this event but future ones as well. You have to do it at some time so make sure it is before the closing date.

D A N N Y
It seems a real shame everyone whos put into this club to get it to where it is today seem to be fighting a loosing battle. need to get tykes back on the map, the places they get are awesome, adingham, brimham, oakworth quarry, shipley glen, harden moor, etc ^ all of there youll only see via tykes, They have even changed the corses to suit modernday riders, and classes. barbra and the team also provide a more than friendly/helpfull service. These are the people who made the easter bunny hop possible a club thats so devoted to its riders thell do what they can to help them, I.E little ben, even though its only on the sunday, Ill still be going for ben , also brimham is such a good place to ride with a verioty of difrent types of sections for each corse. count me IN. D A N N Y
Yours is just one of the entries I haven't received yet, as usual, danny! It's gay you dont get to enter on the day, what if your line of work means you wont know if you can go or not untill closer to the day, when youve missed out. walker
So you expect the organisers to give time and effort not knowing whether peoplae are actually going to turn up or not. You can always enter if you think you can make it, then cancel if you can't, with a full refund. At least it allows the club to do the paperwork before the event. Is it really that difficult to fill out a form that is less than half an A4 page and send it off in the post? There is usually an online entry which makes it even easier, maybe that would have incouraged more people to enter, but it wasn't possible with it being a 2 day event with all the camping and food options.I can't believe how people wont support the few clubs there are in this country. They're run by volunteers, so ask yoursef, do you help out with the organisation? probably not, but if you did, wouldn't you want your job to be as easy as possible? without the nieve people who fail to realise that they're are lucky to have hard working people willing to put aside their time for your pleasure and enjoyment. r2wtrials
Do as some motorcycle clubs do... pre enter only, but if you can't ride and let them know the day before they will not cash your cheque.
Barbara
Thank you Andrew and r2wtrials for understanding. r2w, that is how it must be in the future at trials. What really upsets me most about this weekend is that it is the Ben Carlile Memorial Trophy - to remember a nine year old child who would have given anything to be able to ride at Brimham this weekend if only he hadn't been taken last year by cancer ... and very few people seem to care, all they seem to care about is not being able to just turn up. Ben's parents will be there on Sunday, I want to spend time with them, not taking your late entries. Please have some thought for organisers in the future. As Andrew says, you can enter then cancel if necessary, at least that allows the paperwork to be prepared in advance.
TykeTrial
It's gay you dont get to enter on the day, what if your line of work means you wont know if you can go or not until closer to the day, when you've missed out.DannyThe English dictionary defines gay as 'merry' 'lively' 'cheerful' 'bright' and 'homosexual.' Which of these applies to not being able to fill out a form? Have you contacted the secretary of the meeting to explain your situation? Thursday is the last day for entries and 125 forum members have read this thread so if all those people turned up we would have a record number of people at a trial this year. If you have not been able to enter come along to watch and also talk to the organisers to see just what is involved in running a trial. You will be surprised. We will be remembering Ben at the weekend and I think Barbara hit the nail on the head. He would have given anything to be there at the weekend as I am sure his parents would. You all still have the opportunity to enjoy this fantastic sport and some are lucky enough to live near these venues and practice there. Don't lose what you love so much by running the volunteers into the ground and making this a chore rather than a pleasure.
TykeTrial
Thankyou to everyone who made the Brimham Rocks Trial a roaring success and an extremely emotional day for many people. It was wonderful to see Kevin and Samantha walking the sections and inspiring some of the riders. They both spoke to all the observers and were so pleased you all came along to show your respect for their son and for them. You should all be proud of yourselves. One of the things Ben hated about trials was the number of sections. He felt 3 rounds of 7 was too much and really couldn't get on with 2 rounds of 10. His perfect trial would have been 2 rounds of 8 sections which is what we tried on Sunday. Did you like it? Are there enough sections? I found I could concentrate better and not get fed up queuing not that it helped my result much!! Keep up the momentum of this trial by getting your entries in before the deadline for the Cockhill Mines trial which is on the 19th of July. Last year was a blast with plenty of water to keep you cool. This year we hope the stream, which runs through the back of the venue, will not be in flood as it was last year so we can put more sections in it. Please get your entries off as soon as you can because I haven't seen Barbara as relaxed before a trial for a long time! You also allowed her to spend more time with Ben's parents which meant a lot both them and Barbara.Thankyou again for a great weekend, it makes it all worthwhile. We look forward to seeing you all at Cockhill on the 19th.
walker
Thanks for another great comp. Its certainly on of my favorite venues (and the closest one to home). I liked the slightly more relaxed feel of just having 8 sections, I seemed to help my concentration, and I pleased with my result in elite. It was really nice to meet Ben's parents and the weather and atmosphere was perfect, thank you,Andrew
