Matt Vandart
As the title says, has anyone got a 231 Kamel as I am thinking of getting one and want to know what people think of it.Is it strong? reliable? feel light and springy? or is it a pile o cak that you wish you had never bought? It's well expensive so I want opinions to gauge before I part with my cash.ThanksMatt Edited June 10, 2009 by Matt Vandart

walker
They're stiff and certainly not weak, but there are better frames out there, particularly for the money. Have a look at the rockman frames
Matt Vandart
My kybrd is fked :$New batteries, that's better.Looked at rockman frames, I like the look of them, they were another of my options, but would like opinions of the Kamel first. Does anyone own one? The thing with the rockman frame is if I got the forks as well they have the + 30 disc crap on them which would mean I need 210mm rotor which is a bit much really.Matt Edited June 10, 2009 by Matt Vandart
walker
well there are plenty of forks to choose from.I have owned a 231 kamel by the way, i was sponsored by cleanbikes. They're just not very good. They ride quite well, but the backend looks horrible and they are about £900 frame only or something rediculous. oakley
Its deffinatley not strong, its a super lightweight comp frame. How do you know its not strong? just because something is light does not mean it isnt strong. Mine seems strong enough, its took some battering and no sign of any weakness.well there are plenty of forks to choose from.I have owned a 231 kamel by the way, i was sponsored by cleanbikes. I think the guy knows what they look like, he was asking what they ride like, he must have seen pictures. And just because you think they look horrible doesn't mean he does, i dont think they look horrible at all. And next years model will have a different back end anyway. They do ride well, very well in my opinion, as soon as i stepped on mine my riding improved leaps and bounds, since iv had this im tapping, sidehopping, hooking and gapping further than i ever have before. I also find the riding position a lot more comfortable for me, i find im not aching when i have finished riding like i did on my ozonys. But you cannot buy frame only im afraid. But you cannot buy frame only im afraid.I agree with you about strength Joe, They are a solid frame. I weighed my frame only and i came in at 1.85kg, not overly lightweight. I also agree that they ride well, but I saw a big improvement in my riding when I got off mine! I'm pretty sure MRS (Malcolm Rathmell Sport) have a frame only as I was offered it.
