trialsmax04
Sup guys,Im in need of a bit of advice. I have been trying for ages to learn how to backhop up obsicals, but just carnt get it. I aproach an object at slight speed, pull up into a small manuel and hop upwards as hard as i can. This just doesnt work and i end up smashing the rear wheel into the obstical (normaly resulting in a pinch flat and a lot of swearing). Is there any other way guys? cheers max
bikeperson45
Learn the backhop on flat ground first. Do an endo pull back and work your way from there. It's just down to practise.www.trashzen.com is also good

joshlyd1
Throw the bike into the sky when you are in the air and you should do it You might be better with a bit more air in your tyres lol Josh
JonMack
Roll up to the object wrong foot forward, put in 1/4 of a pedal stroke, then kick for the last 1/4 with your strong foot, as you do this lift up the front end, hop, suck up your knees and push your arms up towards the sky, so your ass is properly over the back wheel.Simples. Tom Booth
If you struggle to get them with a pedal up technique, then try and get into bunnyhopping tyo back if you can? I could only do about 30 with pedal ups, but I've learnt bunnyhops to back an now can get about 40ish preety consistantly

MikeCottTrials
Nobody can tell you how to do it. once you know generally what is done, you just have to practice
Luke Williams!
the man above is kind of correct its all about finding out which you do best i personnaly tap better with a short run up as it gives me less time to think about it but the basics are all the sameif you tap then when your front wheel hits the object , hop/jump pull your knees up and push your arms up into the sky as these people are saying. (quick hint if your tapping dont put your finger over your front lever just grip the bar makes the tap smoother !if its just straight to back wheel do the same but without hitting your front wheel and with abit more speed start small then go biggeralways wise to do it on an object you can do to sus out which technique your best at and most comfortable with Edited June 11, 2009 by Luke Williams! ti-mig-guy
This is a bit hard to describe. For me the key was to lean further back, while pulling up, until I almost fall back. Ass should be low, and elbows should be straight. Then it's a dynamic move upwards. Do not try to push the bike forward, instead pull straight up, and extend your body up until your stomach is touching the bars or stem. The natural inclination is to force the bike up, but it will really do it with very little input, just a hop. It's all about body movement, not bike manipulation. The bike will continue moving forward and up at the same time. It helps to think of pointing your toes when you hop, makes your legs get into a nice position to land. The most important part is to GO FOR IT! Plenty of speed, and really really hop, the bike will stay with you. A curb was never quite tall enough to work this out for me, but 2 pallets worked well.P>S> This technique is where I learned the importance of keeping a good grind on my rim, it's easy to land on your head once you can get up to rear.
